The lanky 6-foot-2, 150-pound guard was the master of the catch-and-shoot and he really put that on display at Oregon Madness back in late June. He helped lead North Medford to the championship game and while the Black Tornado wasn’t able to capture the tournament title, it was a good wrapup to what was a solid junior year for Neff.
“It was a good season for me,” Neff said. “My strength is the big thing, I’ve just got to get bigger.”
At the event, Neff did what he did all year for North Medford – knock down the three. Whether it was spotting up and shooting or coming off of screens, he excelled at the catch-and-shoot and it was his jumper at the end in the semifinals that propelled the Black Tornado to a win over Yamhill-Carlton.
As he works on building strength and adding to his overall game, Neff is hopeful that it will help him earn an opportunity at the college level. Thanks to his relationship with Pacific assistant coach Brant Minor since he was young, the Boxers have been in touch with him for quite some time but he’s keeping all of his options open.
“I’m just looking for a good fit where I can come in and excel,” Neff said. “Hopefully it’s a place that shoots the three a lot and I can have fun. I just want to go as far as I can go.”
Neff averaged 17.0 points and 4.4 rebounds while shooting just under 44 percent from three for North Medford in 2021 and played AAU basketball with Meddy Ballers this summer. He currently ranks as the #40 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2022 rankings.
