Daisjaun Mercer 5’9″ Up Next: An explosive combo guard who was one of the most unique players that I watched during the weekend. Despite being only 5’9″ he was one of the most impressive shot blockers in the 16U division. His athleticism and timing caught many players by surprise. He was also a beast in attacking the basket and on the defensive end with his ball-hawking as he helped his team to the championship game.
Ladarius Wallace 5’8″ Southern Indiana Blaze: A young lefty point guard who was a problem with his speed and quickness. He topped 20 points in both games that I watched him during the weekend. He could blow by defenders with his speed or create space to hit 3-pointers. He was also a ball hawk on defense who applied excellent ball pressure.
Josh Marshall 5’9″ Kentucky Defenders: A nice lefty point guard who is very quick and plays under control. He has smooth handles and can penetrate in the lane with a variety of escape moves. He also displayed good court vision and a high basketball IQ.
Donovan Barnes 5’6″ Cincy Fire Elite: In the first game I watched in the event, this little guard lit it up for 19 points and hit five 3-pointers in the process. He started off the game distributing the basketball and playing solid defense on the full-court press. He showcased a nice runner in the lane before he started to get hot from 3-point range.
