It allowed prospects from the state of Illinois to compete against high level competition from around the country and play in front of college coaches while gaining tons of media exposure. Time for us to unveil our All-Class Teams for the state. To be eligible for these prospects must have played in a minimum of two PHC events. Here is the Prep Hoops Circuit: Class of 2024 All-Illinois Team!
1st Team
Payton Kamin Payton Kamin 6'7" | SF Worcester Academy | 2025 State NLG (Team Ten Jabari Parker)
The MVP of the 2024 Illinois Class goes to Kamin. He was consistent from the start to finish. The long and rangy shooting guard is a high level shot maker that can get buckets from anywhere on the floor. Plus three point shooter that showed improvement off the bounce. His signature game was a 61 point effort in the spring at Rumble in the Rapids. Look for the DePaul Prep wing to make an impact this season as a sophomore.
Morez Johnson Morez Johnson 6'9" | PF Thornton | 2024 State #33 Nation IL (Meanstreets/Indy Premiere Team Rock)
Johnson played with a pair of teams in two different events. The state’s top power forward was a force in both of them. He has all the physical tools you could want in a young post prospect. Elite shot blocker and switchable defender. Offensively he continues to stretch his game out while finishing with explosiveness in the paint.
James Brown James Brown 6'9" | C Link Academy (from Chicago) | 2024 #66 Nation MO (Mac Irvin Fire)
Brown is a five man that has such an advanced game. He showed it off at Havoc in the Heartland and Summer Challenge. The St. Rita post goes to work with combination moves, hook shots, and short jumpers. Runs the floor with ease and passes well out of the high-post and from the block. Plus area rebounder and impacts that game as a shot blocker.
Jaiden Reyna (Indy Premier Team Rock/Team Rose)
Reyna is another prospect that played in multiple PHC events on different teams. Same results on both. High IQ guard has a great feel getting others involved with his distributing and speed pushing in the open floor. Improved range on his shot during the summer and is primed for a monster sophomore season.
Nick Schroeder (Basketball Paradise)
Schroeder was a leader for Basketball Paradise each time we saw them play. The two guard is a knock down shooter that drained them in bunches. Finds opening in the perimeter defense where he let it fly. Also brings some toughness.
2nd Team
Mike Jones Mike Jones 6'7" | PF Chi-Prep | 2025 State #164 Nation IL (Team Rose)
Jones was very impressive for Team Rose. The power forward was so impactful with his play on the defensive end of the floor for their 15U team. He blocked and altered a ton of shots. Offensively he ran the floor with ease and was efficient with his touches on the block.
Dekwon Brown Dekwon Brown 6'4" | PG Simeon | 2024 #273 Nation IL (Illinois Hoopstars/Team Rose/Indy Premier Team Rock)
Brown is one of the top point guards in the class. The point guard plays with tremendous speed and acceleration. Gets to the rack in transition and knows how to get his own offense off the bounce. Limestone star is about to explode in central Illinois.
Tavariyaun Williams (Swish Basketball Chicago)
Williams was the most consistent player for Swish this spring and summer. Good size and skill combination. Like his potential as a wing scorer and defender.
Chris Riddle (Grind Family Chicago/Mac Irvin Fire)
Riddle is a big time athlete that is built like a running back. He can use the power game on straight line takes exploding for slams. More than a physical driver he has improved as a shooter and playmaking passer.
Brendan Molis (HIT)
Good sized combo guard at 6’3” with his plus shooting and crafty handles. Has a good feel for the game and can also score when needed with some projectable upside.
