I mostly watched the 15U teams and saw some really solid up and coming players. A good point guard is something every team needs and here’s a quick look at some of the top floor generals I saw from this weekend.
1. Alek Sanchez – SB Show 2025
This was my second time watching Sanchez play, and he has all the makings of being an elite point guard. He has great court vision and is always in pass first mode. Keeps his head up and keeps the ball moving on offense. He’s a big guard too, he can see the floor over smaller guards. Efficient running a team’s offense. Pushes the pace well in transition and is solid in the halfcourt. Good defensive player too.
2. Christopher Carrillo – MultiLevel Basketball 2025
This was also the second time I’ve seen Carrillo play. He’s a very solid ball-handler who can dribble up court against defensive pressure. He can hit defenders with a nice little crossover and is always looking to make the right play/pass. He’s a small guard but he is able to attack the rim off the dribble and he can finish over bigger defenders. Good body control. He can also shoot from three-point range with consistency.
3. Jake Miller Jake Miller 5'11" | PG Rancho Solano Preparatory | 2024 State AZ – Arizona Triple Threat 2024
This was my first time seeing Miller in person and he stood out as a good point guard. He’s very quick and is a solid ball-handler. Dribbles with his head up and he pushes the pace well in transition. He may be small but he can get into the lane off the dribble and attack the interior defense. He has a nice little floater too that he can get off against bigger defenders. A good three-point shooter who can shoot off the dribble.
4. Tate Vanderwald – Coastal Elite 2024
Vanderwald was one of the top playmakers that I saw this weekend. He’s got solid court vision and he can find the cracks in the defense and get his teammates easy opportunities. He can hit teammates with little pocket passes and he can get into the lane to draw the defense. Good drive and kick player too. He’s a very good ball-handler who sees the open court on the break. Offensively, he’s able to get his own shot if he needs.
