With the big championship on the line, these 16U guys fought hard for their teams and worked to give themselves the best opportunity to walk home with a new piece of hardware. And while there was a boatload of incredible talent all weekend long, these are the 16U guys who really were able to get it done and make the All-Tournament teams!
16U All-Tournament 1st Team
Margad Choijilsuren of Man II Man Soldiers. His game is butter smooth and he was able to get downhill and put the ball in the basket with ease. He was the driving force behind the Man II Man Soldiers’ 16U Platinum Division Championship.
Nathan Rodriguez of North Metro Elite. Even at 6’3″, Rodriguez felt like the most effective big man in the building all weekend. He had multiple 15-point, 15-rebound games and led North Metro to the championship game.
Shamarrie Hugie of Georgia Ignites. A long and interesting prospect, Hugie used his strange build to his advantage all weekend. The Ignites made the Final Four behind his electric scoring and athleticism.
Deuce Hudson of Carolina Badboyz. The Badboyz gave every team a run for their money this weekend and looked absolutely fantastic in every game. Hudson was the main motor behind their offensive attack and deserves this accolade.
Christopher Rios of Florida Suns Blue. Rios was one of the tournament’s better pure scorers. He has a high-level jumper and can slash to the rim to frustrate defenses at 2 levels.
15U All-Tournament 1st Team
Carter McDole of Athletes of Influence. McDole won over the scouts at Passion Region Finals with his play above the rim and incredible feel around the basket. The 6’7″ forward is an incredible athlete who can finish around the rim. He looked like a man amongst boys as Athletes of Influence glided to a championship.
Jaden Baker of Spartans Elite. He has an incredible feel for the game and can get to his spots for easy finishes around the rim. He doesn’t need to outjump or outshoot and opponent because his high level IQ gets him easy buckets at the basket.
Reggie Reinhardt of Stampede Elite. By far the best scorer in the division, Reinhardt averaged 20+ all weekend, and probably throughout all of July. Reinhardt can light it up from distance and is a well balanced offensive weapon.
Tyson Wilson of Athletes of Influence. This kid can flat out shoot the ball. He had 7 threes in the Final Four game that locked their spot in the championship game and was electric from beyond the arc all tournament long.
Darren Smith of Jacksonville Trojans. Smith was a great facilitator and scorer for a well balanced Jacksonville Trojans team. His team made the Final Four behind his great play.
