A lot of hoopers from the bigger cities (read: Coeur d’Alene) have been gearing up for the next season and will do their best to bring a state championship to the panhandle of Idaho in March at the state tournament. Continue reading for a look at some of the players to watch from big schools in North Idaho ahead of the 2021-22 season.
Varick Meredith Varick Meredith 6'2" | SF Lake City | 2023 State ID , Lake City: One of the key members of a stacked lineup at Lake City, Meredith has already made a big impact and will continue to show his skills with a few years of prep eligibility remaining. Varick is the heart and soul of the Lake City squad and he routinely shows up in big ways for his team, whether it be scoring in the clutch or being able to dish out a key assist at the right time. Watch for Varick to have a great upcoming season.
Arie VanDenBerg, Sandpoint: Arie will look to build on an impressive season by helping Sandpoint return to their winning ways. VanDenBerg can shoot from anywhere on the court and he has done a great job of scoring well when his team lacked offensive firepower. Watch for VanDenBerg to have a great season as he looks to improve his consistency while also getting to the rim and finishing through contact at a higher rate.
Jordan Summers Jordan Summers 6'0" | SG Post Falls | 2023 State ID , Post Falls: Summers has un-ironically been working hard this summer in order to improve his shooting ability with the hopes of helping Post Falls achieve a lot of wins during the upcoming season. Jordan already has a great feeling for the game and plays with a high basketball IQ at all times. On defense, he can guard anyone and does not back down to taller players or more physical players. Watch for Jordan to be a greatly improved player for this season.
