Players got to really shine with more on court minutes with their clubs and some guys really burst on to the scene over the summer. We will highlight the 2024 group with a first and second team all riser of the summer hoops session.
(5 Per Team)
G- Griffin Heger, 5’6, Hugoton, SSA Elite 2024 White: Heger put on a couple of really impressive scoring bursts over the summer, getting extremely hot from deep and using his quick burst off the bounce to make plays in the paint. Plays with no fear and really showed that he has a chance to be a spark plug at Hugoton this season.
G- Jalen Freeman, 5’8, Seaman, 94×50 2024: Makes tough shots and can get to the foul line off the dribble. Can knock down open shots as well. Displayed solid guard play throughout the summer and will be someone to keep an eye on this school season to see if his trajectory from the summer can lead to some varsity tick.
F- Charlie Carroll, 6’3, Shawnee Mission East, KC Spurs: A long and versatile forward prospect who put together a really solid summer fufilling a ton of roles for the Spurs on the court. Can rebound, slash with or without the ball and make plays in the paint, and handle the ball well enough to get downhill to the bucket. His versatility will take him a long way.
F- Jack Powell, 6’2, Blue Valley North, Cauley Stein Elite: Showed he has the athletic ability to guard the 2-5 and plays with toughness on the basketball floor. Love his ability on the defensive end both on the ball and from the help side. The offensive game developed nicely over the summer and his stock is going to soar.
W- Quevon Purucker, 6’1, Saline South, SSA Elite 2024 Black: Long and lanky athlete who plays best in transition running the floor, attacking the offensive glass, getting into gaps on defense, and getting into the paint, all of which he did much better in the July sessions. Very energetic player and has the physical tools to develop into a really solid wing at Salina South.
