In this piece we dig deeper in to our notes to recognize some intriguing prospects who didn’t get mentioned in our initial coverage of the Cali-Live period event in Irvine.
Isaiah Carlson Isaiah Carlson 6'3" | PG Ferndale | 2023 WA , 2023, FOH Seattle 17u Blue – The 6-foot-2 guard out of Ferndale (WA) high school is a big time football prospect who also did plenty on the court to show he can hoop at the next level as well. The physical lefty has a stout, well-built frame but combines that with explosive and quick-twitch athleticism to make him difficult to guard in the half-court and transition settings. Carlson is a menace of a downhill driver and finisher who can also play-make for teammates.
Jacob Cofie, 2024, Seattle Rotary 16u EYBL – Cofie is a nice mix of a traditional low block big man to go along with some modern forward skills. The Eastside Catholic (WA) star is a mobile and coordinated 6-foot-8 forward with soft hands and impressive footwork and touch in the painted area. Cofie really excels on the defensive end where his defensive timing for shot blocks and contests are well-beyond his years. Cofie is a high-rate rebounder in and out of his area, as well.
Marquis Cook Marquis Cook 6'6" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2023 State #6 Nation AZ , 2023, Oakland Soldiers 16u EYBL – Cook has an advanced scoring feel on the perimeter with his ability to break defenders down in isolation while also possessing the IQ to play without the ball in his hands and score efficiently. The 6-foot-7 AZ Compass Prep wing is a pogo-stick of an athlete who doesn’t need to rely on his bounce to make an impact on the game, but it certainly does help him make highlight reel plays.
Lucas Dickau, 2025, Eastern Washington Elite 15u Flight – If the last name looks familiar, yes, Lucas is the son of former Gonzaga star and NBA player Dan Dickau (who also coached this team at the event). While it’s still fairly early to project what kind or level of player Lucas will be, I have no qualms in saying that he’s a high level shooter with a great basketball IQ. The 5-foot-11 guard has a quick trigger from deep and the ability to hit from multiple ranges and spots on the floor.
Drew Fielder, 2023, Oregon Prospects 17u – The Idaho native who recently transferred to Southern California Academy is a long, wiry 6-foot-10 forward with skill and touch inside. Fielder has pick-and-pop and face-up shooting ability out to the three-point line and it will be interesting to watch his growth over the next couple of years.
