In this piece we dig deeper in to our notes to recognize some intriguing prospects who didn’t get mentioned in our initial coverage of the Cali-Live period event in Irvine.
Jaylin Stewart Jaylin Stewart 6'7" | SG Garfield | 2023 State #71 Nation WA , 2023, Seattle Rotary 16u – Stewart is a gifted offensive player who can play a variety of different roles on that end of the floor. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard out of Garfield (WA) high school is a dead-eye three-point shooter with time and space. His shooting mechanics are about as good as it gets for a young prospect and he has deep range from multiple spots of the floor. Stewart also has good feel off the bounce and is an active transition and second-chance finisher.
Tyler Thompson Tyler Thompson 6'5" | SG Vanden | 2024 State #261 Nation CA-N , 2024, Oakland Soldiers 15u EYBL – Thompson is one of those guys who looks like he’s moving in slow motion on the court, but he just moves so efficiently he doesn’t need to waste motion or dribbles when getting to his spots. The 6-foot-4 guard has a well-rounded offensive game where his lethal perimeter jumper both off the bounce and off the catch opens up driving lanes. Thompson has the IQ, footwork and willingness to find open teammates to play on the ball in addition to his impact off the ball.
King-Jhsanni Wilhite, 2023, Oakland Soldiers 16u EYBL – Wilhite is a quick and shifty point guard whose variety of dribble moves and change of speeds and direction make him a tough cover in transition and half-court settings. The Archbishop Riordan junior-to-be is a crafty finisher around the basket who can contort his body with great control to finish around shot blockers. Wilhite also has a quick and consistent three-point shot off the bounce.
Mason Williams Mason Williams 6'4" | PG O'Dea | 2023 State WA , 2023, Seattle Rotary 16u EYBL – Williams doesn’t get enough credit on the loaded Seattle Rotary 16u team and I think he has a chance to be a high level Division I point guard. The 6-foot-3 O’Dea (WA) high school product showed great command for the position and understanding of how to run a team in different game situations. Williams is smooth ball handler who can get to his spots for effective pull-up jumpers or a set-up pass for a teammate.
