A variety of west coast teams made their way to Momentous Sports Center where the bracket-play style produced competitive games all weekend. Below is our fourth set of standouts from the 17u crop of talent.
Luke Lowe Luke Lowe 5'10" | CG Olympus | 2022 State UT , Utah Force – Lowe didn’t impress with high-flying finishes or flashy passes, but rather with his toughness and basketball IQ. The 5-foot-11 point guard out of Olympus high school ran the show with efficiency for his team, making sure the offense flowed and the ball found open players for good shots. Lowe’s biggest impact came on the defensive end where his quick hands and fundamental defensive stance and slide kept guards in front and made it difficult on them to get where they wanted to go.
Chase Mayo Harmon Chase Mayo Harmon 6'2" | CG Phhoenix Prep | 2022 State AZ , Arizona Select 2022 Showtime – Mayo showed off his versatility in helping Arizona Select reach the 17u Division semifinals. The 6-foot-4, class of 2022 guard guarded multiple positions defensively, rebounded the defensive glass well for his size and position and knocked down open catch-and-shoot jumpers. Mayo also flashed his high motor, strength and driving ability when attacking poor closeouts and finishing at the rim.
Trent Murray Trent Murray 6'1" | SG Desert Vista | 2022 State AZ , Arizona Dream 2022 – Murray had a really nice performance to help propel Arizona Dream into the 17u Division championship game. The 6-foot-1 shooting guard out of Desert Vista high school caught fire in the first half and knocked down multiple three-point shots to put Dream in a position to take a 20-plus point lead at halftime. Murray has a balanced and fluid jump shot and is lethal from distance given time and space.
Easton Reagan Easton Reagan 6'4" | CG Desert Mountain | 2022 State AZ , Arizona Dream 2022 – Reagan has a little bit of a throwback feel to his game and it is effective in multiple ways. The 6-foot-4 guard knocks down open three’s with consistency, can initiate offense with ball skills and IQ, plays well out of ball-screen action and, though he’s not the quickest or most explosive athlete, can take defenders off the bounce and finish around the basket due to his change of speed, pace and direction. Reagan had 17 points and six rebounds in a semifinal victory and a game-high 29 points in a championship loss to ABC New Mexico.
