A variety of west coast teams made their way to Momentous Sports Center where the bracket-play style produced competitive games all weekend. Below is our second set of standouts from the 16u crop of talent.
Parker Gerrits Parker Gerrits 6'1" | PG Olympia | 2023 State WA , Roots Academy 2023 – Gerrits was named our overall MVP of the Hustle Region Finals and his truly all-around impact earned him that honor. The 6-foot-1 point guard has elite feel and IQ for the game as evidenced by his efficient scoring package and ability to run a team at a high level. Offensively, Gerrits is a knockdown three-point shooter who can also beat defenders off the bounce and finish around the rim or create for teammates. Defensively, he’s a heady on-ball and team defender who communicated well and is always in good position when helping off his assignment.
Jalen Glenn, Sac Hoyas – Glenn is an intriguing long-term prospect whose wiry 6-foot-3 frame and smooth athleticism add to his upside. The Inderkum high school product proved to be a lethal perimeter scorer throughout this event with his catch-and-shoot three-point consistency and fluid one and two-dribble pull-up jumpers standing out the most.
Jake Hall, MultiLevel Basketball 2023 – Hall was one of the biggest surprises of this event for me. I had heard good things about the Carlsbad High-bound 2025 prospect and his ability to score in a variety of ways and he didn’t disappoint. Hall is a knockdown three-point shooter with deep range from multiple spots behind the arc. The 6-foot-1 off-guard showed the ability to hit perimeter jumpers both off the catch and off the bounce.
Taye Hollins, Sac Hoyas – Hollins flashed an impressive all-around arsenal both on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. The 6-foot-4, class of 2023 shooting guard out of Woodcreek high school has fundamental and repeatable shooting mechanics and doesn’t need much time or space to get his shot off. Hollins showed the ball skills and footwork to create space from his defender on the perimeter or drive by them and into the paint where he used his length to extend and finish at the rim.
Devin Lewis Devin Lewis 6'0" | PG Inderkum | 2023 State CA-N , Sac Hoyas – Lewis was the third member of the Sac Hoyas 16s team who performed well throughout the Hustle Region Finals. The 5-foot-11 point guard showed impressive transition speed and downhill control and balance through contact. Lewis used his strong frame to absorb and finish through contact in the painted area and also did nice job of driving and kicking to open shooters.
