PG- Dekwon Brown Dekwon Brown 6'4" | PG Simeon | 2024 #273 Nation IL 6-1 Limestone Community (IL) (pictured at top of article) This Central Illinois area player had a huge weekend playing with an Indiana based team. Scored 29 points in a victory over a good Cincinnati Royals squad on Saturday. Kept up the high level play in a nip and tuck semi final loss to Team Teague 2025 on Sunday. Quick explosive guard with a tight handle. Also has excellent elevation on his jump shot.
SG- Shane Rykse 6-2 Schoolcraft (MI) One of the top shooters in the state of Michigan got off to a bit of a slow start but came on strong as the weekend went on. Standout performance was in a dramatic Saturday night come from behind victory over Indiana Game-2. Posted 28 points and wanted the ball at the end of the tight game. Ball handling and passing are starting to catch up to the near elite shot making abilities.
SF- Jordan Lomax Jordan Lomax 6'3" | SG Brownsburg | 2024 State IN 6-2 Avon (IN) Big time scorer throughout the whole Grit Region schedule kept it up in the finale. I was impressed that he accomplished it in multiple ways. Really scored at all three level on the weekend. Showed competitiveness on the defensive end with his long lanky frame helping in this regard. Topped at least twenty points in every one of his games this weekend.
PF- Jaylan McElroy Jaylan McElroy 6'7" | PF DePaul Prep | 2024 State #262 Nation IL 6-5 DePaul Prep (IL) Played very well in the post for the Chicago Demons. Standout day was Saturday. When he drew the short straw of facing two very good post players in Breakaway’s 6-6 Jack Riemer (Downers Grove North IL) and Mid Mo Elite’s 6-7 Nelson Shinkle (see below) Really stood out in the close loss to Breakaway. Scored 21 points and also played solid defense in this contest. Should form a dynamic 2024 duo at DePaul Prep with Payton Kamin Payton Kamin 6'7" | SF Worcester Academy | 2025 State NLG
Nelson Shinkle 6-7 Knox County (MO) First caught my eye in a Saturday game against eventual champion Cincinnati Royals-Zeinner. Against their small front line had a few big blocks. Played well in a evening victory against the Chicago Demons who had considerably more size. Mobile with a very long frame. Appears to like contact as well. Not extremely familiar with the scene in the “show me” state. But I’m not surprised that this is currently the 15th ranked player in the state. Bright future for this post prospect.
