PG- Jay’Quan Bostic 6-2 Cincinnati Woodward (OH) (pictured at top of article) Not a true point guard at this point of his development. But the unquestioned the leader for the 2024 Grit Region championship team. Earned that leadership title in a classic semi final victory over EG10. After EG10 took a late lead in the back and forth contest. Bostic took charge and went coast to coast for the game winning basket. Scored 22 points in the semi finals. Set the tone both offensively and defensively in a decisive championship
SG- Ru Mills 6-2 Cincinnati Woodward (OH) Bostic’s backcourt partner might been the explosive player in the field. Started out the weekend with several huge finishes that had the gym buzzing on Friday evening. Kept it going all the way through the championship victory. Simply an electric athlete. Dunked in every way imaginable. Did it off the dribble, off of lobs, and a particularly impressive one with no dribble on a euro step. It wasn’t all highlights though. Very productive as well. Scored 15 points in the championship victory.
SF- Nate Johnson Nate Johnson 6'3" | PG Lakota East | 2021 State OH 6-4 Grand Rapids Christian (MI) Big time athlete did not put up huge numbers but caused all sorts of problems defensively for B3 Athletics. Used long frame to bound and glide around the court with ease. Excelled as driver from multiple spots. Mainly from the high post and explosive spins down the baseline. Several big finishes above the rim showed off elite athleticism. I was impressed with how seamlessly his fit in with his new teammates. Has played with UTS Elite through most of the Spring/Summer. The Christian program loses a lot talent from last years squad. Johnson could be next major recruit from this program that has been pumping out Big Ten players of late.
PF- Jalen Haralson 6-5 Indianapolis (IN) Followed up a strong Saturday with a huge Sunday. Led Team Teague 2025 all the way to the 2024 championship. Big time prospect who passes the eye test in a major way. I was impressed that such a young prospect could impact the game in a wide variety of ways. Already has some subtle nuances to his game. Moves extremely well without the basketball and in not a ball stopper. Now that’s not to say he can’t score when he needs to. Had an absolutely huge three in a quarterfinal victory over Indiana Game.
C- Morez Johnson Morez Johnson 6'9" | PF Thornton | 2024 State #33 Nation IL Jr 6-9 St Rita (IL) Only played on Sunday but more than lived up to his rep as an elite national recruit. Like Haralson passes the eye test in a major way with a long but muscular frame. Fluid athlete who runs the court very well. Made his presence known early and scored 15 points with a huge tip in basket in a quarterfinal victory. In the semis showed an extreme level of court sense in the OT loss. After another important late tip in. Grabbed the ball and threw it away from the court. I couldn’t figure out what he was doing. What he was doing was taking a delay of game. Which allowed the clock to stop. Which allowed his team to set up it’s full court press despite having not having any time outs. That is some next level Chris Paul floor general stuff. Not something you see out a 2024 center. Should form a special front court at St Rita with James Brown.
