Buddy Buckets Rising Stars (13U) vs BTR (13U)
The game of the night for 13U took place between Buddy Buckets Rising Stars led by Braden Buckingham and DJ Pedulla and BTR which is led by Caison Robinson. The game was extremely competitive especially with both teams being familiar with each other. As the game began, Buddy Buckets jumped out to an early lead with BTR going 2-3 zone Buddy Buckets got hot with numerous threes from Braden Buckingham and Dj Pedulla. BTR had a response though, they switched to a 2-2-1 full-court trap which worked in their favor leading to easy buckets off turnovers. As BTR battled back the game became very exciting to watch with Caison Robinson knocking down numerous threes and DJ Pedulla trading baskets with him matching every play BTR had to offer. In the last 7 minutes of the game, Braden Buckingham took control of the game dropping a ton of dimes and getting numerous steals. It seemed as if he didn’t steal it it was at least tipped which led to a turnover. In the end, Buddy Buckets Rising Stars won 52-46 over BTR.
2 Hard 2 Guard (14U) vs Next Level (14U)
The game of the night for 14U was between Next Level led by Darien Luke and 2 Hard 2 Guard who’s led by arguably one of the top players in the country for his class Jaden Nickens. At first glance, I assumed that 2H2G would run away with the game because of the star power of Jaden Nickens but Next Level stayed in it the entire game making multiple hustle plays and knocking down timely shots. Darien Luke of Next Level is an extremely athletic forward who had his hands on just about every rebound that came his way. His teammates did a great job of sharing the ball and rewarding him in transition. In the second half, Jaden Nickens flipped the switch and showed why he’s one of the best in his class making numerous stepback threes and throwing down thunderous dunks in transition. Late in the game, it was Zyhir Fiscer of 2H2G who stepped up big going out and just simply getting a bucket. He was very fun to watch because of how crafty he is and how he used that to score the go-ahead layup at the end to put 2H2G up one with seconds left. Jaden Nickens closed the game out with a steal and-1 finish to give 2 Hard 2 Guard the win 59-55 over a tough Next Level team.
Team Trae Young (15U) vs AUB (15U)
The game of the night for 15U went down in a matchup between Team Trae Young led by Kaden Leache and Andrew Harris versus AUB led by Brady Hancuff. This game did not disappoint. From start to finish it was back and forth with both teams making big plays. It seemed as if neither team could pull away, AUB made a strong run and Kaden Leache followed it up with a 4 point play on the other end. Team Trae Young took the momentum then Brady Hancuff of AUB answered back with a huge block on one end, takes it coast to coast, and scores on the other end for AUB. Late in the game for Team Trae Young it was Andrew Harris who had stepped up huge making all types of plays whether it was finishing or drawing fouls to get AUB in foul trouble. But late it was AUB defensive intensity that helped them survive a 63-62 win in a thriller versus Team Trae Young.
