#34 Giovanny Evanson Giovanny Evanson 6'5" | PG King's Way Christian | 2023 State WA (6’5 SG, Kings Way Christian HS)
Evenson has big upside and is a sleeper in this class. He is long, athletic, and skilled. Three-level scorer– he can hit the spot-up 3, create shots in the midrange, and take defenders off the dribble to finish at the cup; if he has the space he will put it on the defender’s head with a dunk. He excels in transition; his length allows him to cover a lot of ground fast. Adding strength will take his game to the next level. Big stock riser in this class, make sure to follow him throughout the season next year.
WL Luke Brewer Luke Brewer 6'2" | PG Tumwater | 2023 State WA (5’11 CG, Tumwater HS)
Luke made it to the 2023 watchlist, and I don’t anticipate him staying here for long. He is a high IQ guard with a smooth stroke from deep. He moves very well without the ball, whether it be cutting for layups or finding openings for kick-outs. He has the ability to play that in-between game as well. He is active on the defensive end playing the passing lanes and getting deflections. Excited to see more of him this upcoming season; I think he will have a breakout year.
#38 Soren Dalan Soren Dalan 6'10" | C W.F West | 2023 State WA (6’10 C, WF West HS)
Dalan is super refreshing to watch. With the hoop game transitioning to “small-ball”, it’s not often we get to see back-to-the-basket bigs anymore. Soren is a big body and he uses every bit of it to beat down on defenders. He does a great job sealing for position in the post and when he catches it he is patient, coordinated, and has a solid hook over the right shoulder. He is an underrated passer. He is active on the boards and uses his body to move guys out the way to secure the ball. He sets great screens too. He gets better every time I watch him play. I expect a breakout year for him this junior season. Coaches buy stock now.
WL Theo McMillan Theo McMillan 6'2" | PG Camas | 2023 State WA (6’0 PG, Camas HS)
Theo is another watchlist prospect that I am looking forward to seeing more of. He is a quick guard with a tight handle. He gets in the paint at will breaking the defensive down off the dribble or blow-bys off the catch. He has good vision and makes the right plays when help D steps up. He is a crafty finisher at the cup too. Keep your eyes on him this upcoming season as he’ll be leading the charge for a loaded Camas squad.
#51 Yanni Fassilis Yanni Fassilis 6'5" | SF Union | 2023 State WA (6’5 PF, Washougal HS)
Fassilis’s skillset reminds me of a high school Draymond Green. Although he’s a bit undersized for the PF position, he plays very physically and embraces contact when in the paint. He isn’t a freak athlete, but he is very skilled. On the perimeter, he can attack off the dribble, and he operates well from the mid-post areas as a scorer and playmaker. In the post, he is nimble and has good feet; constantly spinning off defenders. Shooting isn’t his strong suit but he is capable and isn’t scared to take 3s when given space. Rebounding is where he shines; he has a knack for being in the right place.
