There were a total of 50 new prospects added to Indiana’s Class of 2022 rankings in this update and these are some of the top guards who found their way onto the list.
Rynell Echols Rynell Echols 6'2" | SG Franklin Central | 2022 State IN (Franklin Central H.S. 2022)
Playing for Gym Rats Black, this uber-athletic guard turned some heads as a high-ceiling player that could develop into a very nice college player. Echols is still very thin, but has the explosiveness necessary to get up and finish around the rim. He is a great driver, can create his own shot off of the dribble, and has the tools to be a pesky on-ball defender. The 6’1″ guard debuts in our Prep Hoops Indiana rankings at #86.
Omari Ferguson Omari Ferguson 6'3" | SG Indianapolis Metropolitan | 2023 IN (Indianapolis Metropolitan H.S. 2022)
Speaking of uber-athletic guards, Ferguson is a guy who can flat out jump out of the gym. He is one of the most vertically explosive players in the state which makes him incredibly hard to stop off of the dribble on his way to the rim. The 6’3″ lefty showed off a pretty solid shooting stroke from beyond the arc this summer with George Hill All Indy-Woo as well. Ferguson comes in at #82 in the new rankings.
Brandon Rayzer-Moore Brandon Rayzer-Moore 6'5" | SG Jeffersonville | 2022 State IN (Jeffersonville H.S. 2022)
Rayzer-Moore came across the river from Jeffersontown, Kentucky to Jeffersonville, Indiana for his junior season and is now one of the better available prospects on the wing in the Hoosier state. At 6’5″ with excellent shooting ability, Rayzer-Moore is a dangerous scorer from all three levels. He makes his debut in the Indiana rankings all the way up at #33.
Kaden Stanton Kaden Stanton 6'1" | PG New Albany | 2022 KY (New Albany H.S. 2022)
Another southern Indiana product, this 6’1″ point guard jumps into the updated rankings at #76. Stanton is very quick off of the dribble and has a tight handle. He can create his own shot off of the dribble and penetrate the defense at will to get to the basket. This long, lefty guard can really score the basketball. His length makes him a disruptive on-ball defender as well.
Kenney Troutman Kenney Troutman 6'1" | SG Ben Davis | 2022 State IN (Ben Davis H.S. 2022)
Ben Davis quietly has a ton of returning talent heading into this winter. The Class of 2023 gets a lot of the statewide publicity, and deservedly so, but this 6’1″ guard is a very good player in his own right. Troutman can play either on or off the ball effectively with his ability to score the basketball. His senior leadership and versatility will bring out the best from the other talented players in their backcourt.
Mason Yoder Mason Yoder 6'2" | SG Westview | 2022 State IN (Westview H.S. 2022)
Yoder caught my eye early on in July as a guy who absolutely had to break into the rankings this time around. He is a nice small college prospect as a 6’2″ scoring guard with solid athleticism. He is an excellent mid-range scorer with a consistent pull-up jump shot. Going to the basket, he is athletic enough to get up and finish around the rim. The Westview product who played with Summit City Elite breaks into the rankings at #144 in a very deep class.
