Today, we start a series highlighting players in each class that are under-recruited or under-appreciated coming out of the summer. We began by highlighting five Indiana guards in the Class of 2022 that are currently being under-recruited and moved on to five wings that deserve more attention. Let’s round out the 2022 class breakdown with five forwards and posts that should be attracting even more college interest.
Landen Babusiak Landen Babusiak 6'11" | C Bosco Institute/Indiana Connections Academy | 2022 State IN (Bosco Institute 2022)
The 6’9″ big man has transferred from Hanover Central to the newly founded Bosco Institute for his senior season. Babusiak put together a solid summer playing with Indiana Game on the Prep Hoops Circuit proving that he is one of the best post players in the state. He is a skilled offensive player with good feet around the basket, a few different effective post moves, and the necessary strength to bang around with other bigs on the block. Defensively, he is mobile enough to protect the rim and rebounds at a high level in his area. I’m surprised there haven’t been more offers extended to Babusiak.
Jackson Bobo Jackson Bobo 6'8" | PF Lawrenceburg | 2022 State IN (Lawrenceburg H.S. 2022)
Bobo is a really intriguing 4/5 man with a good skill on the offensive end. The 6’7″ forward has the ability to do a lot of different things with the ball that makes him hard to guard. He is a good mid-range shooter making him effective on the pick-and-pop in the 15-18 foot range, has the footwork and hands to catch it on the roll, and handles the ball well enough to attack bigger defenders off of the dribble. His interior skill benefits from excellent, quick footwork as well as his ability to finish with both hands. Very good rebounder that will go up a level as he continues to get physically stronger.
Jalen Bullock Jalen Bullock 6'7" | PF Calumet New Tech | 2022 IN (Calumet New Tech H.S. 2022)
The strong, 6’7″ post turned the heads of some small college coaches over the summer and rightfully so. Bullock has all the physical tools you would want in a 5-man in terms pairing mobility with strength. Some of the overall skills are still a bit raw, but he flashes some tremendous overall ability. He is a very good passer with soft hands and the ability to be an effective rim-runner. Very high-ceiling as a rebounder and defensive presence as well. Bullock should become one of the most heavily-recruited big men at the small college level.
Logan Lankenau Logan Lankenau 6'9" | C Fort Wayne Carroll | 2022 State IN (Carroll H.S. 2022)
Lankenau is a true 5-man with a lot of intriguing parts to his game. At 6’8″ the big man has great hands which makes him an effective finisher as the roll man in the pick-and-roll. He plays with his feet apart inside, can finish with either hand at the rim, and showcases solid mobility. On the glass he uses his length to collect a lot of rebounds in his area and once again shows off strong hands by not losing the ball once he corrals it. Some of the overall offensive skill is a little raw, but you’ll love his size and the physical tools are there. Should be a highly sought after small college big man.
Shon Tupuola Shon Tupuola 6'8" | C Brownsburg | 2022 State IN (Brownsburg H.S. 2022)
Tupuola had a breakout weekend at the Charlie Hughes Showcase in June and parlayed that into a strong July UAA Rise Circuit with Grand Park Premier. His summer eventually led to an offer from University of Indianapolis for the 6’8″ 5-man. He is very raw, but he has the size, mobility, and length to be a great college big man. He is incredibly long which makes him a disruptive force at the rim and allows him to rebound everything in his area. Offensively right now he is a rim-runner and finishes with dunks at the rim, but he excels in his role. Tupuola is just scratching the surface of his potential. I could see a Division I taking a late flyer on him.
