Life Center’s Shawn Simmons is heading to St. Frances Academy in Maryland, while Patrick School’s Scotty Middleton will be at Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas. The wing group is still filled with talent headlined by Mackenzie Mgbako Mackenzie Mgbako 6'8" | SF Roselle Catholic | 2023 State #5 Nation NJ and Akil Watson Akil Watson 6'7" | SF Roselle Catholic | 2023 State #105 Nation NJ .
Both prospects are being courted by high major schools as they have the potential to make plays on both ends of the floor. Mgbako is a skilled wing who can score at all three levels, rips down rebounds and can defend multiple positions on the floor. Watson has a similar skill set as he can knock down triples, but also put the ball on the floor and finish around the rim.
St. Benedict’s Tyler Bey Tyler Bey 6'9" | SF Fairfax | 2023 #177 Nation CA-S is the next highest ranked wing on the list after a big summer. The lanky 6’9 small forward has a smooth offensive game as he can make shots through contact around the basket and has a clean shooting stroke from distance. Bey has a nice handle, making him capable of playing almost every position on the floor on offense.
Camden’s Cornelius Robinson Cornelius Robinson 6'6" | SF Camden | 2023 State #253 Nation NJ is a high-energy small forward who never takes a play off on either end of the floor. The 6’5 wing has a strong frame which he uses to get position down low and has a nice touch around the basket. Robinson’s range extends out to the three-point line and can defend multiple positions on the floor.
Aaron Davis Aaron Davis 6'5" | SF Hudson Catholic | 2023 PA moved to Hudson Catholic over the summer and should have a strong season with the Hawks. The 6’5 wing has a strong frame, which allows him to defend in the post and make tough shots in traffic. Davis attacks the basket strong and works hard on the glass at both ends.
Christian Pierre-Louis Christian Pierre-Louis 6'2" | SG Roselle Catholic | 2023 State NJ and Daniel Vessey Daniel Vessey 6'3" | CG Hun | 2023 State NJ will be playing in the backcourt at the next level, but they impact the game in different ways. The former is a strong defender as Pierre-Louis moves his feet well and is unafraid of challenging bigger opponents. Vessey is a knockdown shooter with a quick release and he moves well off the ball to free himself for open shots.
Donovan McKoy Donovan McKoy 6'6" | SF St. Joseph (Mont.) | 2023 State NJ ’s collegiate future may be on the gridiron, but he still makes an impact on the hardwood. The 6’5 dual sport star is a big-time athlete who excels at finishing above the rim. McKoy is more than just a dunker as he can also make shots around the basket and the athleticism to make plays on the defensive end.
Dasear Haskins Dasear Haskins 6'8" | SF Camden | 2023 State NJ is a breakout wing candidate as his versatile skillset fits in nicely on a talented Camden roster. The 6’6 lefty attacks the basket with a purpose and is a good finisher around the basket. Haskins is more than just a slasher as he can also knock down jumpers from behind the arc and has the length to defend multiple positions.
The 2023 wing class is loaded with big-time talent, which should be on full display this upcoming season.
