Will Bishop, Lincoln County – Will had been considered one of the top 3-5 2024s in Kentucky for several years before missing all but one game of his Freshman season with a foot injury and subsequent surgery. Bishop is on his way back from the injury now and it will be interesting to see how quickly he can get back to his old form and start moving up rankings again.
Elijah Decker Elijah Decker 6'5" | SF Ohio County | 2024 State KY , Ohio County – A 2023 reclass, Decker is probably ranked too low in the 2024 rankings right now but it’s hard to figure out where to put kids after these reclass decisions. Regardless, Elijah should be on the short list of best players in the 3rd region this year and will have a chance to show that he’s a future scholarship level player.
James Mayor James Mayor 6'10" | C Ashland | 2024 State KY , Ashland – One of the oldest sayings in basketball is “you can’t teach size” and James has that. Standing 6’10 as a sophomore, Mayor is raw as a prospect but should improve over the course of the season. Ashland is loaded with offensive weapons so they won’t be relying on James for more than rebounding and rim protection. He should be able to provide that.
Max Green Max Green 6'6" | CG Oldham County | 2024 State KY , Oldham County – Oldham County is notorious for not playing younger players but Green was a starter for the Colonels when I saw them this summer. Max is playing off the ball as much or more than he is on the ball but he’s a very vocal leader and will need to provide scoring and especially outside shooting for an Oldham team hoping to win the 8th.
Jaylen Ellis Jaylen Ellis 6'8" | C Jeffersontown | 2024 State KY , Western – Jaylen has made strides in his game over the last year and is becoming a more fluid athlete as he develops. At 6’7, Ellis is a better rim protector and rebounder than he is an offensive force but his offense is catching up. Western is going to be a top team in the 6th region and Ellis’ development could help push them over the top.
