Turner is one of the class’ best passers. He sprays it all over the court with either hand, and can dial up the speed or use his touch depending on the situation. He also has one of the best handles in the class, which helps him get where he wants to on the floor. The finishing in the lane is one aspect of his game that will need improvement. Turner has the ability to get to the rim at will, so figuring out how to meet the big and finish around him will be a big key to future success.
Kuet Gatwech Kuet Gatwech 6'2" | CG Lincoln North Star | 2024 State NE | SF | Lincoln North Star
There is a ton of upside to Gatwech’s game. He is a terrific athlete with great movement skills who can dribble, pass, shoot, and defend. Right now, what he does best is attack the rim with ferocity. Rim attacks are half skill, and half attitude. You’ve got to have the strength and athleticism to create gaps, but there are plenty of great athletes who can’t get to the rim consistently because of a lack of aggression. Gatwech has both, and that will take a basketball player a long way.
Kevin Stubblefield Kevin Stubblefield 6'4" | SF Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE | PF | Omaha Westside
When you see Stubblefield fly in for a rebound, you get a great sense of what he brings to the table. Great athleticism, strength, and body control. It makes it even better that he can grab the rebound and take it up the floor himself. He finishes well at the rim, making difficult putbacks look easy.
Kajuan D"Sidney | SF | Lincoln North Star
The North Star forward’s improvement from the beginning of the summer to the end was as significant as anyone’s in the state. His pull up shooting improved, along with his passing ability and ball-handling. Whether it was a confidence boost that allowed him to utilize his complete skillset, or a significant improvement in those areas, it was impressive growth in just one summer.
Jacob Arop Jacob Arop 6'6" | C Bellevue West | 2024 State NE | C | Bellevue West
Arop has top notch touch in the paint. He is quick off his feet, and when he grabs the rebound he gets it back up quickly, never letting it drop below the shoulders. If he grabs the defensive rebound, he always look for the deep outlet, and has great accuracy when chucking it down the floor to a streaking teammate. His biggest weakness right now is staying engaged on every possession. At times he can fall asleep and miss a box out, or fail to move for a rebound that is within his range.
Treyson Anderson Treyson Anderson 6'9" | C Pius X | 2024 State NE | PF | Lincoln Pius X
Anderson is a really skilled offensive big. He has a pretty stroke from distance which is consistent and efficient. He can even take his man off the bounce with combination dribbles, while scanning the floor and making the next pass. His defense is behind the offense right now. He can get caught ball-watching or reacting a second too late to the play.
Elijah Gaeth Elijah Gaeth 6'1" | SG Millard North | 2024 State NE | PG | Millard North
As a long, quick athlete, Gaeth challenges opponents on both ends. That athleticism paired with his tight handle helps him get to the rim where he can finish at a high level. That length helps him make passes that other guards with equal vision simply cannot make.
Bhan Buom Bhan Buom 6'5" | SF Wasatch Academy | 2024 NE | SF | Lincoln Southwest
Buom is a guard in a forward’s body. He lives out on the perimeter, but is virtually a non factor inside with his back to the basket. The shooting stroke needs some work as he follows through out, not up, but right now it works well enough and most defenders can’t contest it well enough to be a huge disadvantage yet. He has the skills to be a good passer, but turns it over somewhat frequently because he can telegraph his decisions. Usually, most bigs with a smaller frame at his age are not the most coordinated, but Buom is a very fluid mover, and he can accelerate and decelerate extremely well.
