(6 names per team)
Second Team
G- Zion Young Zion Young 6'2" | CG Life Prep | 2023 State KS , 6’2, Campus, Oz Elite: A fun and electric guard who built off a great spring tearing it up this summer. His stock should continue to rise as he takes more of the back court responsibility for Campus this year. Showed this summer he can get into gaps and create for himself and others, play off his talented teammates well.
G- Wyatt Conklin Wyatt Conklin 6'2" | SF Washburn Rural | 2023 State KS , 6’2, Washburn Rural, SSA Elite 2022 Black: Hard nosed guard who can play some 4 minutes if need be. Really took his game to a higher level in the summer, knocking down more open shots, offensive rebounding like crazy, and moving and scoring extremely well without the ball in his hands. Is the type of player every successful team needs as that “glue guy”
G- Mason Gomez Mason Gomez 6'3" | SG Topeka | 2023 KS , 6’3, Topeka West, 94×50: One of the best three point shooters who had their stock raise from July. Put up multiple 10+ three point made games in one July period. The lefty is lethal from the corners especially off the catch. When paired with some nifty shot creators Gomez really gets to shine with his long ball.
W- Kamryn Kaniper Kamryn Kaniper 6'4" | SF Silver Lake | 2023 State KS , 6’5, Silver Lake, SSA Elite 2022 Black: Stuffed the stat sheet from the wing spot this year. Was a streaky shooter but when he got going, really elevated his game. Saw the floor well and distributed the ball really well and used his size to pair with his court vision. A relentless rebounder of the basketball as well on both ends of the floor and has no fear in playing above the rim.
F- Jackson Swartz, 6’5, Chaparrel, Team Buddy Buckets KS: Got notice from multiple prep hoops contributors outside of the state for his play this summer. Shot the ball well from the perimeter and helped stretch the floor and also attacked other teams guards in mismatches near the painted area and drove at forwards who were slow to close out. Swartz’s game really developed this summer and he provided some really solid forward play for the talented Buddy Buckets 2023 group.
“Sixth Man”- Matthew Garber, 6’ G, Sabetha, SSA Elite 2023 White: In July shot the ball from 3 at an extremely high clip. Has a tendency to get hot in a hurry from distance and can get his shots off quick. Plays with a ton of toughness as well on both ends of the floor and brings great energy. When a couple of teammates were moved to the other SSA group, he elevated his game and really flourished with the expanded opportunity.
