Here are the top-12 SF’s in the 2023 class:
Marquis Cook Marquis Cook 6'6" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2023 State #6 Nation AZ AZ Compass Prep (Pictured)
One of the most talented wings and players on the West Coast. He plays with a motor and rebounds out of area. He can hit from mid to the 3pt line and can explode up to dunk the ball plus defend inside and out.
Cody Williams Cody Williams 6'8" | SF Perry | 2023 State #25 Nation AZ Perry
A super long wing who plays and defends the 1-3 for his HS and AAU teams. He handles it like a guard and makes good reads. He can hit the catch-3 plus takes long strides to get to the rim. His versatility has made him into a Top-100 prospect.
Arman Madi Arman Madi 6'7" | SF Brophy | 2023 State AZ Brophy Prep
A bigger wing shooter with some wiggle. He has nice athleticism with a decent handle and he is a good passer. He makes shots from all levels and has range on his 3-ball. He is ranked in the Top-200.
Kevin Patton Jr Kevin Patton Jr 6'8" | SF Mountain Pointe | 2023 #130 Nation CA-S Maricopa
One of the more unique players on the list. He has great size, passing skill and shot making from floaters to the 3pt line. He can defend multiple positions push the break and keeps improving. He will be a monster at Maricopa HS and don’t be shocked they make the playoffs. Another who is ranked in the Top-250!
Mathiang Maker Mathiang Maker 6'7" | SF Dream City Christian International | 2023 State AZ Dream City Christian
A wildly athletic forward takes very few strides to get to the cup. He can hit shots from the perimeter and is a star on the break. He can rebound, defend the 3-5 and brings a motor to the game.
Ky Green Ky Green 6'6" | SF Liberty | 2023 State AZ Liberty
Another superb athlete can get out on the break with the best of them. He is a smart passer and he will defend the 2-5 for his HS team. He likes the catch-3 and the transition game. He is rumored to have grown 1-2 inches.
Carter Gittens Carter Gittens 6'5" | SF Sunrise Mountain | 2023 State AZ Sunrise Mountain
A quickly improving forward is making his move as he heads into his junior season. He improved his skill from the perimeter and his athleticism has come in. He can flush it down on the break or rip through. He can crossover his defender and rise up and hit from mid-range. One of the stock risers from the class.
Trey Brown Trey Brown 6'7" | SF Phhoenix Prep | 2023 State AZ Phhoenix Prep
A growing point forward type seems to get a little better each season. He uses his size to get downhill but can also make the catch-3. His game is his versatility on defense to defend the 1-4 and facilitating abilities.
Erenzo Scroggins Erenzo Scroggins 6'4" | SF AZ Compass Prep Black | 2023 State AZ McClintock
A thick wing forward with some serious springs. A little undersized but he is a highlight reel on the break. He uses his handle and strength to score it through contact in the paint. He rebounds like a man possessed and he is a capable 3pt shooter.
Brayden Gant Brayden Gant 6'5" | SF Phhoenix Prep | 2024 State AZ Coolidge
One of the top risers in the class has moved over to Coolidge HS from Desert Vista. His offensive and defensive talents should stand out in 3A and he can score from all three levels with skill and some bounce.
Corey Wood Corey Wood 6'7" | SF ALA-Ironwood | 2023 State AZ ALA-Ironwood
A bigger wing is one of the better small school junior standouts. He has great size, as he is now 6’7, with a pretty touch from the 3pt line. He is rebounding and defending better then the beginning of the year and makes more plays for his teammates.
Marsai Mason Marsai Mason 6'6" | SF Phhoenix Prep | 2024 State AZ Mountain Pointe
A classic 3 and D type of game. Although lean, he has great length and he will defend multiple positions. He can hit the 3 plus slash to the basket and will score on put backs.
