Make sure you check out the other parts of every position, lots of available scholarship level talent was profiled in this series. College coaches have hit the ground running recruiting the 2022 class after Division I coaches were not on the road for almost a year and a half, make sure you don’t miss out on any prospect that can help your team win. Prep Hoops Ohio has you covered with everybody you need to know about.
Brandon McLaughlin Brandon McLaughlin 6'8" | C Heath | 2022 State OH , 6’8 C Heath 2022: Heath has the chance to have their best season in school history next season, and that’s saying a lot considering they went unbeaten in the regular season in 2019-20. With McLaughlin, Keylan Williams Keylan Williams 6'6" | PF Heath | 2022 State OH and Reece Huber Reece Huber 6'4" | SF Heath | 2022 State OH , they will have one of the best trios in Division II. McLaughlin had some big games for Mid Ohio Pumas -Jackson this summer. McLaughlin and Justin Perry Justin Perry 6'7" | PF New Albany | 2022 State OH helped control the glass and protect the rim. McLaughlin has added some ball-handling and mid-range shooting to his game, also improving his mobility. I originally thought he would be strictly a C at the next level, but he’s made strides that would make me comfortable playing him at the PF position in stretches alongside another big.
CJ Yarian CJ Yarian 6'10" | C St. Ignatius | 2022 State OH , 6’10 C St Ignatius 2022: Playing next to Henry Raynor Henry Raynor 6'7" | PF St. Ignatius | 2021 State OH for the past two seasons, it’s Yarian’s time to shine for St Ignatius. Yarian learned how to shoot from the outside at a proficient clip to allow floor spacing for Raynor to operate on the block. This season, Yarian’s floor spacing and rim protection will be crucial for the St Ignatius guards to get to the rim. I’d like to see Yarian become more productive, he has the tools to be a solid college basketball player, I just want to see him dominate lesser competition more than he’s previously shown me.
Mason Weisbrodt Mason Weisbrodt 6'8" | C Batavia | 2022 State OH , 6’8 C Batavia 2022: This is a prospect that jumped onto my radar at the Run-N-Slam and has continued to impress me ever since. I’ve profiled Weisbrodt’s game multiple times this spring and summer so check out those reports by reading the articles linked in his player news. I think he should be on scholarship radars for Division II and NAIA programs, holding one offer from Delta State.
Caleb Laurich Caleb Laurich 6'7" | C Copley | 2022 State OH , 6’7 C Copley 2022: Laurich isn’t the most talented guy who will be featured in this article, but he’s one of my favorite bigs to watch in the state. Laurich knows his role and embraces that fact that he’s hardly ever going to cross somebody up or knock down a 3-pointer. Instead, Laurich plays his ass off every time he steps on the floor and dominates the glass against taller bigs. Because Laurich has such a great motor, he should have scholarships to pick from.
CC Ezirim CC Ezirim 6'6" | C Jerome | 2022 State OH , 6’7 C Dublin Jerome 2022: Ezirim has some very intriguing long term upside with his physical tools and shot blocking ability. I also saw Ezirim put somebody on a poster in the one high school game I saw last season of his. While Ezirim is far from a finished product at this stage on both ends of the floor, I think a program that can be patient and redshirt him could see some serious rewards in the later years of his eligibility at the college level.
