Elijah Black, 6-2 2022 G, Mt. Miguel/ West Coast Flight
Black put together one of his most impressive games ever in the huge comeback win over WCE Buckles. His defensive effort (shut down the WCE guards) and his explosive, yet efficient scoring effort – he hit shots from every level, attacked the basket and finished some highlight plays around the bucket – were the catalysts. The game is slowing down for black, and for a guard of his athletic pedigree, this will only raise his stock.
Nicky Clotfelter Nicky Clotfelter 6'6" | SF The Bishop’s School | 2022 State CA-S , 6-6 2022 W, Bishop’s (CA)/ West Coast Flight
If Black started the comeback for WCF in the game against West Coast Elite, Clotfelter finished it with an impressive display of three-level scoring, footwork in the midpost and on drives, attacking closeouts and finish drives through contact, and bringing the ball up in transition and scoring. Flight went to him on almost every possession down the stretch, and he delivered.
Anthony Lambert, 6-2 2022 G, Foothills Christian/ West Coast Elite 17u Buckles
Lambert continues to show growth in the areas of scoring off the bounce and his defense. A knockdown perimeter shooter, Lambert has improved attacking closeouts, absorbing contact and finishing midrange shots or floaters off of one foot. He also does a solid job playing the passing lanes for steals.
Mau Tablada, 6-4 2022 W, Chaparral (CA), West Coast Elite 17u Buckles
Tablada is a jack of all trades for the WCE team. The center by default, he is an excellent rebounder who uses his athleticism and nose for the ball to pursue boards. But he’s not a center: he is a solid wing with length and the ability to score from midrange and in the paint off of slashing drives.
Griffyn Doughty, 6-2 2023 SG, Weber (UT), UBC Elite 16u
He did it against lesser competition on the wing, but Doughty showed off his athletic, crafty scoring ability in an early morning game against California Selection’s second 16s. He has nice length, a smooth shooting stroke and handles the ball well int he open court. When the ball is in his hands, he makes things happen. The next step for him is to become more active in the half court when he doesn’t have the ball. He tends to stand around and not sprint to spots.
Quincy Williams, 5-10 2023 PG, Francis Parker/ California Select 16u Black
Williams, the younger brother of former Parker standout Miles Williams Miles Williams 5'8" | PG Francis Parker | 2020 State CA-S , is a prospect on the rise in his own right. A little taller and longer than his brother, Williams exhibits solid ball control and feel and is a clever passer in the half court. He keeps the ball on a string and can attack pick-and-roll hedges with slick splits (keeps the ball low). He is also a pesky defender who uses his active hands and foot speed to stay in front and turn over his opponents.
Kamran Dubois, 6-5 2024 W, Francis Parker/ California Select 16u Black
A long, bouncy bouncy four man, Dubois is raw from a skill and feel perspective, but does a solid job rebounding out of his area, finishing plays around the basket and hitting midrange shots. You see it in flashes, but the long-term upside is definitely there.
Trajan Cong Trajan Cong 6'1" | CG Vista Murrieta | 2022 State CA-S , 6-4 2022 W, Murrieta Mesa/ Mesa Rams
Cong is a solidly built combo guard who can slash to the basket and finish through contact, or knock down the midrange pull-up in traffic. His three-point shooting is streaky, but playable out to the college three, and defensively he can guard multiple perimeter positions.
Jake Hall, 6-2 2025 G, Carlsbad/ Multilevel Basketball 16u
Hall is a known commodity as a shooter, but he is also an underrated athlete who can attack closeouts and is pretty explosive off of one foot, which allows him to absorb contact and finish on the way down. He threw down a dunk in transition as well, further exhibiting his athletic chops. As he develops his midrange game, look out.
Marley Gonzalez, 6-8 2022 C, Escondido Charter/ Gamepoint 17u Select
A big-bodied post man with soft hands and a knack for finishing everything around the basket, it was Gonzalez’s work on the boards that stood out. He continues to improve his mobility, which allows him to chase down rebounds out of his area. When he retrieves them, he always has his head up, looking to find guards to reinitiate the offense. If he’s close around the basket though, Gonzalez finishes at a high-rate, despite not having great bounce. A younger 2022 who doesn’t turn 17 until later this fall, Gonzalez still has a ton of upside.
