With over 45 new names in the class, it will take a few articles for us to highlight every new prospect in the rankings, but we are determined to do so! Here’s a look at part two!
Check out the full rankings here.
#43 Cameron Cole Cameron Cole 6'4" | PG Highland | 2023 State VA | 6’1” PG | Highland School
Cole is set to have a big season at Highland with a talented team and the departure of Angel Brizzi to Villanova which leaves a big hole at point guard for them. The 6’1” PG isn’t the biggest or strongest player but he’s shifty and quick off the bounce, he can knock it down from deep and he has great feel as both a scorer and a playmaker as well.
#44 Connor Lane Connor Lane 6'3" | CG Twin Springs | 2023 State VA | 6’3” CG | Twin Springs
Lane is an intriguing prospect in SWVA that had a breakout sophomore season and reminds me a lot of former SWVA standout Zac Ervin who is now at Elon. The 6’3” guard can play on and off the basketball, he can shoot it from deep and put it on the deck and get to spots and score it and he has a good feel and plays with a chip as well.
#45 CJ McPherson CJ McPherson 6'3" | SG Norfolk Collegiate | 2023 State VA | 6’3” SG | Norfolk Collegiate
McPherson is quickly becoming one of the top prospects in the 757 with his ability to shoot it from deep and the improvements that he’s made in the past few years. The 6’3” off guard has good size and a strong frame that allows him to guard the ball well, he can really knock it down from deep off the catch and he has improved in his ability to put it on the deck and create in isolation situations.
#46 Doyle Brown Doyle Brown 6'1" | SG Bethel Academy | 2024 State VA | 6’1” CG | Centreville
Brown was a solid piece for Centreville in their run to the Class 6 State Championship last year, and he will step into an even bigger role here moving forward with the departure of some of their best players. Brown checks a lot of boxes that you look for in a combo guard, as he can play on and off the basketball, he’s a tone setter and competitor on the defensive end and he can really stroke it off the catch when open.
#50 Blake Neal Blake Neal 6'6" | PF St. Stephen's & St. Agnes | 2024 State VA | 6’3” SG | Paul VI
Neal steadily got better and better throughout the two DMV Live sessions I watched with PVI in it and he has some tools that are very intriguing moving forward. He’s a two way off guard with a good frame that will guard the other team’s best player, has a good motor and competes on both ends and he knows how to be successful in transition and when attacking the basket with his ability to finish at the rim.
#52 Will Bonde Will Bonde 6'7" | PF Miller School | 2023 State VA | 6’7” PF | Miller School
Bonde is one of the Charlottesville area’s most underrated prospects and could possibly make us look stupid and move up this list as he continues to develop. He has good sir and is surprisingly mobile and athletic, he’s highly skilled as he can play in the post and is an excellent shooter that can step outside and make shots and has a good feel for the game as well.
#53 Christian Greenlaw Christian Greenlaw 6'6" | PF Woodside | 2023 State VA | 6’6” PF | Woodside
Greenlaw is a fast rising prospect in the 757 and has always been productive in the times that I have watched him play. While he’s a little short in the post he plays with a lot of aggression and physicality, he’s explosive and quick off his feet allowing him to finish above the rim from a stand still and he pursues the basketball and plays with a great motor as well.
#54 Myles Derricot Myles Derricot 6'2" | SG Varina | 2023 State VA | 6’3” SG | Varina
Derricot was set to have a breakout sophomore campaign at Patrick Henry before the pandemic hit and the Hanover schools only played each other, but if the reports are true that he’s heading to Varina he’ll be a valuable piece to an already talented team. The 6’3” shooting guard is smooth and talented as he can play on or off the basketball, he makes tough shots from multiple levels and he has a good feel and a swagger to his game that he knows he’s good.
#55 Owen Gray Owen Gray 6'10" | C Steward | 2024 State VA | 6’8” C | Steward School
Gray is a prospect who could work his way up this list and become one of the top bigs in the Richmond area if he continues to develop and become more consistent with his game. The 6’8” center is super-singly mobile and can run the floor, he gets off his feet quickly and can play above the rim on both ends and he has good touch out to 15 feet and beyond.
