Danny Young Jr Danny Young Jr 6'2" | CG Shaker Heights | 2022 State OH , 6’2 CG Shaker Heights 2022: After a player commits to a division I program, the pressure on a player comes off and he’s allowed to play freer. That’s what I saw from Young after he recently committed to Cleveland State. Young was making deep shots against a zone defense and playing impressive off the ball. I like Young more at the next level as an off guard than a primary ball-handler, it allows him to showcase his scoring talent. That’s the role Young plays for C2K.
Khalil Luster Khalil Luster 5'8" | PG Lima Senior | 2022 State OH , 5’7 PG Lima Sr 2022: Luster is one of the toughest players in the state, and as a 5’7 PG, that’s a requirement. Luster is the definition of a Lima tough player. I thought Luster was more confident offensively in this showcase than previous games. Luster needs to be more confident as an outside shooter because at his height, it’s tough to provide much rim pressure.
Drey Carter Drey Carter 6'8" | PF Westerville South | 2022 State OH , 6’8 PF Westerville South 2022: Carter was the big stock riser from the event, gaining his first two MAC offers on Friday. Carter is incredibly intriguing as his size and mobility plus shooting ability is quite unique. Carter is also one of the youngest players in the 2022 class. I expect even more programs to come inquiring about Carter before the end of July.
Javan Simmons Javan Simmons 6'7" | C Gahanna | 2022 State OH , 6’6 C Gahanna 2022: Simmons is one of the most productive bigs in the 2022 class and isn’t afraid of anybody. Simmons was going against North Carolina commit Will Shaver and didn’t back down. Simmons had a powerful dunk in transition and grabbed plenty of rebounds in the paint. Simmons is a favorite of mine in this class.
Cooper Davis Cooper Davis 6'5" | SG Olentangy Liberty | 2022 State OH , 6’4 SG Olentangy Liberty 2022: Davis is one of the top shooting prospects in the class and his fit on this Nova team is perfect. Davis is a prime example of a 3 and D player that will be ready to produce from day one at the college level. Davis is another example of a kid who plays his future college role at the grassroots level compared to high school. Seeing players in different settings is invaluable to evaluating them and shouldn’t be understated.
