Here are the Georgia standouts:
Coen Carr, 6’5″, 2023, Grassroots: Georgia Stars
Carr was no doubt one of the standouts of the weekend at The Platform. He isn’t just a regular athletic player, he is one of the best athletes I have ever watched at the high school level. His freak athleticism was the key to many great plays for the Stars, as he was able to bounce around the rim and catch alley oops from teammate Carl Cherenfant. He is a rangy and super lengthy guard who adds an incredible offensive option, considering he can finish over the tallest and most athletic defenders. He will continue to catch oops all season and make highlights around the state of Georgia.
Jalan Johnson Jalan Johnson 5'10" | PG North Cobb | 2023 State GA , 5’7″, 2023, Grassroots: SBT Johnson
Johnson was one of the better players on a well-balanced SBT Johnson team. While he added a lot of great tactics to the squad, his shooting and ball handling are the things he did best. He was able to get his shots off in droves and could heat up really quickly. This led to bunches of points, which helped SBT Johnson go on deep runs throughout the weekend. He also was a great ballhandler, which was perfect for trying to break presses and fantastic for trying to distribute the ball. Johnson could use a few more inches of height, but as of now he seems like a really solid option for any team in Georgia.
Joshua Daniels, 6’1″, 2023, Grassroots: ATL Prime Select
I didn’t get to watch Daniels a bunch, but I did get to watch him ball out against the Iron City Huskies, He has a great feel for the game and could finish over defenders with his deep finishing bag. He proved to be a reliable shooter, knocking down 3 deep shots in the only half I watched him play. He is long and athletic enough to make him an offensive threat. Daniels needs to improve his intangibles and his hustle on the defensive end, but overall he looks like a convincing prospect.
