Continue ReadingThe fourth and final day of the Adidas 3SSB event in Alabama was Sunday and Prep Hoops Ohio was there to catch all the action. On Sunday I saw Wildcats Select 15 U, 16 U and 17U while also seeing Midwest Basketball Club 16 U and 17 U. In this article we’re going to be looking at the top performers from these teams.
Reed Sheppard Reed Sheppard 6'3" | PG North Laurel | 2023 State #22 Nation KY , 6’2 SG North Laurel (KY) 2023: Sheppard recently got offered by Kentucky, the school his father played at, as his stock continues to rise. Sheppard was huge for Midwest Basketball Club, coming back from a halftime deficit against Wildcats Select to finish the weekend 6-0. Sheppard is an elite shooter with great change of pace to get to his spots in the mid-range. With how quick Midwest Basketball Club moves the ball, Sheppard isn’t forced to take as many difficult shots as other highly touted guard prospects. With a back-court of Cupps and Sheppard presumably getting another year together for Midwest Basketball Club (both are 2023 prospects) you have to assume this team will be a winner again on the circuit.
Rich Rolf Rich Rolf 6'6" | PF Centerville | 2022 State OH , 6’6 PF Centerville 2022: I’ve said for a while that Rolf is the best rebounder in Ohio and stand by that claim. What Rolf is continuing to show more of is his outside shooting game. Rolf is a complimentary piece on offense, moving the ball and taking open shots when they come to him. Recently, Rolf has been making more of those open shots and making the defense pay for leaving him open. While Rolf has a couple Division I offers at the moment, I expect a lot more low to mid major schools to throw their name in the hat for Rolf.
Jacob Conner Jacob Conner 6'7" | PF Alter | 2022 State OH , 6’8 PF Kettering Alter 2022: Despite a losing effort in the end, I thought Sunday was the best I’ve ever seen Jacob Conner Jacob Conner 6'7" | PF Alter | 2022 State OH play. The long power forward was knocking down shots from the outside and making his presence known in the paint with his long wingspan. Conner is a very intriguing prospect with his physical tools and ability to pass and space the floor. With almost 20 Division I offers, Conner has many options on where he will be attending school at the college level. He announced that he would be committing on Monday, the day this is being written.
Dellquan Warren, 6’1 PG Spire 2024: I try not to spotlight kids back to back days but Warren was absurd for Wildcats Select 16 U on Sunday. His elite explosiveness was on full display with some loud breakaway dunks and one poster on a Midwest Basketball Club defender. This is one of the most explosive guard prospects I’ve scoured in Ohio since I began evaluating. Warren will be near the top of the 2024 rankings when they are updated in July/August.
Jacob Meyer Jacob Meyer 6'2" | PG Holy Cross Covington | 2023 #170 Nation GA , 6’1 PG Holy Cross (KY) 2023: Meyer has been a favorite of mine since the first time I watched him this Spring and he continued to show why on Sunday. Going against Dellquan Warren was a tall task, but Meyer also stood out as a top prospect. Meyer is super quick and can get to the rack at will. A great finisher in transition, Meyer is much more below the rim compared to Warren. I like how Meyer can finish with both hands around the basket, but he is better with his right hand. (Shoots jumpers lefty) Meyer recently picked up two Division I offers in June, but much more schools will be getting involved soon.
Nathan Dudukovich Nathan Dudukovich 6'2" | SG Lakota West | 2023 State OH , 6’2 SG Lakota West 2023: Cue up the NBA jam soundtrack because Dudukovich was “On Fire” in the one game he played on Sunday. Knocking down shots from anywhere and everywhere behind the 3-point line, I’d bet Dudukovich had around six 3-pointers made in this game alone. It was a terrific shooting display from a guard who already was one of the top scorers in the Cincy area as a Sophomore. I expect colleges to love his ability to space the floor and play off ball when they put more of an emphasis on offering 2023 prospects.
Jacob Theodosiou, 6’3 PG Western Reserve Academy 2024: A prospect I didn’t get the change to evaluate during the HS season because of a lack of all day events, I was excited to finally get my eyes on Theidosiou in person. He lived up to the hype by displaying an excellent feel for the game with terrific passes and playing at his own pace. His jumper takes a little while to get off his hands, but once it does it usually goes in. Where Theodosiou will be highly regarded for again is his passing and overall point guard play. Many coaches and fans complain about the lack of pure PG’s in this modern brand of basketball, Theodosiou will be a favorite to those types of fans. Theodosiou will be another highly regarded 2024 prospect in the state of Ohio.
