Continue ReadingThis past weekend a significant number of the top grassroots teams opened the July live period by traveling all over the east coast to participate in multiple events across a five day period. From Myrtle Beach, SC to Manheim, PA, 15U squads from southeastern PA took to the court against some of the most competitive teams on the circuit. To say that 15U teams from this region held their own is an understatement.
Below is the first installment of the Summer 2021 southeastern Pennsylvania’s 15U grassroots teams Top 10 rankings. Spoiler alert: we have a new team in the No. 1 spot to tip off July.
- Philly Pride National UAA: This squad started the July live period by going 2-0 at Battle for the Bell (PA). Included in those Ws was an upset of Team Final EYBL who finished our 2021 spring rankings in the No. 1 spot. Philly Pride Head Coach Brandon Williams then took this group down to South Carolina for sessions I & II of the Big Shots-Myrtle Beach event. During those 5 days of action the team posted a 4-2 record. Fazl Oshodi Fazl Oshodi 6'3" | CG Friends Central | 2024 State PA and Ryan Williams Ryan Williams 6'3" | SG Malvern Prep | 2024 State PA provided dynamic backcourt play. Athletic wing Jeremiah White Jeremiah White 6'6" | PF Imhotep Charter | 2024 State PA was a consistent contributor all week.
- Team Final EYBL: After a 1-1 record at the Battle for the Bell, Team Final “played up” in the 16U division of the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest and assembled a 3-0 record. TF received excellent guard play from Moses Hipps Moses Hipps 6'4" | SG AZ Compass Prep | 2024 State AZ , Robert Wright III Robert Wright III 6'0" | PG Montverde Academy (FL) | 2024 State #35 Nation FL , Nick Coval Nick Coval 6'1" | CG Parkland | 2024 State PA and Mike “Deuce” Jones. Team Final EYBL then headed to South Carolina for the Peach Jam. At the posting of this article, the team was 1-0 at the Peach Jam. Elijah Brown had 18 points in that win over Bounce Elite.
- K-Low Elite: This squad defeated a very good NJ Panthers-HGSL team as well as Jersey Force-HGSL on their way to the 15U platinum division title of the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest. Darren Williams Darren Williams 6'4" | SG Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State PA and Reid Belcher Reid Belcher 5'11" | PG Friends Central | 2024 State PA had outstanding weekends for K-Low Elite. Belcher was especially impressive at the defensive end of the floor where he averaged 4 steals per game.
- Team Final Red HGSL: Now that all of their bigs are healthy and can help David Fridia David Fridia 6'6" | PF Allentown Central Catholic | 2024 State PA on the interior (Fridia averaged a double-double this past week.) this team looks primed for a big run here in July. As a bonus they have added Houston, Texas transplant Isaac Dye (Headed to State College Area HS.). Dye is a 6’3” lights out 3-point shooter who will stretch the floor for TFR’s talented bigs. Of course Jake West Jake West 6'1" | PG William Penn Charter | 2025 State #193 Nation PA had it going on all week as well (19 ppg. & 8 apg). This injection of talent and fresh legs produced a 6-2 record this past week.
- Philly Revolution: This past weekend the Revolution took the floor at the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest without elite scoring guard Jalil Bethea Jalil Bethea 6'4" | SG Archbishop Wood | 2024 State #5 Nation PA . So, Josh Reed and Joe Shields Joe Shields 6'0" | CG LaSalle CHS | 2024 State PA picked up the slack and led the Revolution to a 2-1 record at Summer Jam Fest. Anthony Lily posted a double-double (22 & 16) in their win over WeR1.
