Maybe I had not been looking close enough, but I did not know Glock had the defensive chops that he exhibited today. He fought hard over ball screens, contained drives, and provided great help at the nail and in the post. OSA 3SSB 15U always forces a lot of turnovers, and Glock had a big part in that on Saturday.
Ayden Zikmund Ayden Zikmund 6'2" | SG Central City | 2024 State NE – 2024
I included Zikmund in our 10 Best Shooters of the High School Season article earlier this year because of the volume of threes he put up and also the level of difficulty of many of those shots. In the early portion of the AAU season, I did not see that same player, and wondered to myself whether his freshman stats for Central City were a result of the competition level. He was passive, passing up shots he wouldn’t have hesitated to take for his high school team. But this weekend, I saw him break out of that slump. A few threes fell early on Friday, and he never looked back. You could see his confidence grow from one half to the next, and by the end of the day Saturday, he was splashing threes and not thinking about the defender closing out on him.
Connor Millikan Connor Millikan 6'1" | CG Platteview | 2023 State NE – 2023
Millikan had a great Friday too, but I was watching another court when he had his 30-point performance. He was just as dangerous on Saturday, though, on both offense and defense. His defensive intensity gave his team a boost early, and he maintained that energy level throughout the day. He blocked a few shots, racked up several deflections, and closed out hard on shooters. Offensively, he attacked the rim with authority, inviting contact and brushing it off.
PJ Davis PJ Davis 6'2" | SG Omaha Central | 2022 State NE – 2022
The OSA 3SSB 17U squad had quite the day. They had a blowout win over a very talented Kingdom Hoops (IA) team, and ended the night by avenging an April loss to Nebraska Supreme UAA. PJ Davis PJ Davis 6'2" | SG Omaha Central | 2022 State NE was a huge part of those big wins. He shot the ball extremely well from three, many of those coming at important times to end runs by the opponent. He also competed hard on defense, using his strong body to wall off drivers and forcing the offense to reset.
