The aggressive 6-foot-2 guard had a solid junior season at Tualatin and now he’s been suiting up with International Elite for his last go-around on the AAU circuit. Ogoli and his teammates are fresh off playing at the Elite 32 Tournament in Atlanta and college coaches have started to get in contact with him as he
“There was a lot of good competition and a lot of high-major and mid-major coaches watching,” Ogoli said. “I loved the environment and it was a fun experience. We went 3-2 and every game was close. I feel like I played well. I’ve been driving a lot more; I think from football, I’ve been attacking more in basketball. And my mid-range I feel has been going for me too.”
Having seen Ogoli play at the Battle in Seattle and in summer league play, it’s clear that he’s made it a mission to really get to the hoop. He’s especially dangerous as a finisher in transition and that was something he really got to show this past year, one in which he fully enjoyed.
“We got stuff done this short season – we had fun and we did what we could,” Ogoli said. “I felt I like I worked hard at staying in the games and put my focus defensively, stopping the other team’s best players.”
Ogoli suited up with Tualatin in summer league action on Monday and posted a game-high 30 points while hitting the glass and doing his best on defense. The goal for him this July is to amp up his recruitment. He notes that Northwest Nazarene, Central Washington, and Naval Academy are some of the schools that have been in contact and he remains completely open.
“I don’t have any offers yet but I’m still working,” Ogoli said. “We still have a few tournaments ahead.”
International Elite next heads to Kansas City for the Hardwood Classic + Sunflower Showcase and will then round out the next couple of weekends on the road. Ogoli currently ranks as the #10 ranked player in the recently updated PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2022 rankings.
