Here are the elite prospects from Austin and San Antonio that are garnering national attention with their dominant play.
2022 Class
Austin Nunez Austin Nunez 6'2" | PG San Antonio Wagner | 2022 State #97 Nation TX | PG | San Antonio Wagner
Texas Ranking: 11
National Ranking: 102
- An elite point guard prospect who can light up the scoreboard in a hurry with his quick release from beyond the arc, Nunez is the top-ranked player from Central Texas in the 2022 class and comes in as a borderline top 100 ranked player in the country. Nunez is a creative offensive playmaker with a lethal three-point shot, has very good wiggle and quick bursts of athleticism to get around defenders, and has a soft touch around the basket where he also deploys a sweet floater.
2023 Class
Malik Presley Malik Presley 6'6" | SF San Marcos | 2023 State #108 Nation TX | SF | San Marcos
Texas Ranking: 8
National Ranking: 68
- A big-time athlete with great length and explosive leaping ability, Presley is incredibly hard to stop in the open court and punishes the rim with each dunk he throws down. Presley has a ton of upside on offense from the wing, where he can knock down shots from deep, but he has also shown to have a consistent mid-range jumper. He does a really good job of using his length and bounce on the boards and as a rim protector.
Kendrick De Luna Kendrick De Luna 6'10" | C TMI | 2023 State #246 Nation TX | C | TMI
Texas Ranking: 10
National Ranking: 101
- De Luna has had a huge summer picking up offers from Arkansas, Houston, Texas A&M, Old Dominion, Oral Roberts, and SMU. De Luna is a high upside 6’10” center who is a strong and technical player in the paint with several post moves in his toolbox on offense. Shows good lateral movement on defense and has great awareness around the basket when gobbling up rebounds. De Luna continues to move up the rankings and is becoming a nationally known recruit.
Ma’shy Hill Ma’shy Hill 6'9" | C Spire | 2023 State #251 Nation OH | C | Pflugerville Hendrickson
Texas Ranking: 15
National Ranking: 152
- Hill is starting to come into his own as a dominant post player with a very high ceiling. Hill has great size and length for the position, is light on his feet, dominates the boards, and is a put-back machine. He’s starting to be more aggressive with his offensive game in the post, where his athleticism is too much for defenders to handle. He’s a load in the paint on defense consistently altering and blocking shots. Watch out for Hill to continue to take major leaps in his game over the next two seasons.
Jaylen Crocker-Johnson Jaylen Crocker-Johnson 6'8" | PF San Antonio Warren | 2023 State TX | PF | San Antonio Warren
Texas Ranking: 18
National Ranking: 209
- A versatile forward who can handle the ball and play a variety of roles for his team, Crocker Johnson was one of the more impressive players in San Antonio during last year’s high school season. He can play point-forward or a true post position with his back to the basket. Crocker Johnson is a bulldog on the court and has the potential to put up double-doubles on a consistent basis. Not only can he dominate around the basket, but he’s shown the ability to stretch the floor and knock down shots from the elbow and from three-point range.
