Talented Wings Duel in Young & Reckless Authentic Basketball vs Alabama Celtics
Opened the day with a pair of the best 17U wings from the PHC this spring and summer. Young & Reckless captured the win behind 16 points from Justin Mullins. The Oak Park River Forest 2022 utility wing does a little bit of everything and has shot it well from distance this weekend. Larkin lead guard Damari Wheeler-Thomas chipped in 14 points. Shifty ball handler that wins off the bounce and has a solid spot up game. Huge fan of Lyons point guard Tavari Johnson. The floor general has such a great feel for the game as a lead guard along with as a distributor. St. Patrick combo forward Timaris Brown had one of his best days we have seen this spring or summer out of him. Strong wing posted up weaker defenders. Hit a couple threes. In their second game of the day we were impressed with how TF South power forward Xavier Lewis played. He played within himself slamming home alley oops, dunks, and right handed hook shots. Played with energy on the glass. For the Alabama Celtics it was more of the same for their star Bryson Dawkins. Elite athlete as a left handed two guard he was electric getting in the lane with his speed and slick handles for scores. Mid-major prospect no doubt that has significant upside at that level!
PSB Guard Drops 47 points
Colorado product Aidan Kohl had the best performance of the day as he dropped 47 points for PSB in a victory over D1 MN Prospects. The combo guard was on fire from distance connecting on 8 threes in the game. Such a quick and concise release on his shot. Made deep threes at an insanely high rate. Also got to the line at a decent clip. Currently holds 3 D2 offers. Expect many more to come.
D1 MN Prospects Guards are Sleepers
Buom Jock opened eyes for D1 MN Prospects. Angular wing that can shoot it from distance. Active rebounder and that plays well in the open floor. Another guard that caught our attention was Mitchell January. The thick bodied point guard scored from all three levels and would help out a small college program.
O.W.E. Captures W in Battle with Team Teague
This Louisiana team had a pair of ballers in their backcourt. Lance Waddles is a point guard that can score off the bounce and was a very good finisher in the lane. Also connected on several threes in a 23 point outing. Donavan Seamster is a lefty two guard that was effective shooting from distance. He had 18 points.
Showtime Elite LA Trio Shine
Really enjoyed another Louisiana squad in Showtime Elite LA 17U. Troy Cole is a wing with a strong body. Converted on a pick/roll, burst getting downhill, and crashed the glass with force. Scored 17 points. Treylin Whaley is a two guard that was effective scoring from multiple levels going for 13 points. Amare Anderson is a rangy power forward that is rail thin, but showed a lot of intriguing tools sealing on the block, turnaround jumper, and swatted shots.
Young & Reckless 16U Records W vs FIFA
Y&R 16U continues to roll along winning game after game. They recorded a nice win against a quality FIFA team who impressed on Friday. Ahmad Henderson is one of our favorite guards in the 2023 class. The Brother Rice point guard has deep range on his shot, runner game, and dishes the all over the floor off dribble penetration. Went for 17 points in the 59-44 W. Low and mid-majors should be tracking him. In the second half Simeon big man Steve Turner went to work. Wide bodied five that carves out space inside getting deep post position for scoring en route to 10 points.
Two Guards Light Up Scoreboard in Full Package vs OZ Elite 16U Contest
It was quite a battle between Full Package and OZ Elite. Full Package and New Trier junior shooting guard Jake Fiegen was unconscious from distance dropping 7 triples on his way to 28 points. One of the best shooters we have seen all spring and summer. He has picture perfect form every single time. Everyone needs shooters in today’s game and he is one of the best out there. Oz Elite 2023 wing Brandon Redic from Kansas hit an array of jumpers, but his most impressive aspect that stood out was his athleticism. LeBron come from behind blocks and flied in for tip ins. Think low-major D1s should jump in now.
Max Levels Trio Shows Major Promise
Texas program Max Levels was super fun to watch. They score a ton of points and play an exciting brand of hoops. Jimel Cofer caught the eye of many college coaches. The unsigned senior scoring combo guard pushed in the open floor and hit step backs. Netted 25 points. Class of 2022 wing Miles Gibson presents nice size for position and a super clean jumper as he nailed multiple threes and mid-range shots for 22 points. Kiante Williams is a projectable power forward with decent mobility and athleticism on the interior. Went for 17 points.
Arizona Select Wins Thriller vs Fundamental U Grey
Saved the best for last! Most fun game of the day was between Arizona Select Showtime and Fundamental U Grey which came down to the wire. Arizona Select won the game behind a great outing from Chase Mayo Harmon. The two guard connected on a ton of threes and crashed the offensive glass for 13 points. He was complimented by hard working big men and even more spot up threats. For Fundamental U it was another strong outing from Glenbard West post Ryan Renfro. Athletic five that rebounds at a super high rate along with scoring inside. Went for 10 points. Ben Ahmer from Huntley is a plus mid-range shooter that can play on or off the ball. Continues to see stock rise every event.
