Young & Reckless Brim 17U Continues Domination
It was another blow out win for Young & Reckless Brim as they are becoming accustomed to. This team has a lot of prospects that will be opting for prep school next season is a veteran group that takes the heart out of their opponent right from the beginning. It all starts with Amar Augillard. The former Zion Benton standout will go prep at Core 4 in Georgia. He is a big and physical combo forward that is unstoppable in transition as he racked up 21 points. Jaehshon Thomas is a former Whitney Young point guard who is also going the prep route. Compact guard that can fill it up with pull ups at a high clip en route to 17 points. Early on in the game Keynan Davis had it rolling. Projectable wing with size that can stroke it from deep. Also Westinghouse center Martell Webb did some damage with his wide frame inside moving bodies and utilizing touch. Their opponent was PSB Denver who had a couple intriguing guards. Aidan Kuhl led the way with 13 points as the lefty point guard drained a couple of threes including a step back. Elijah Knudsen stands at 5’11” and the guard can really stroke it from deep.
FIFA 16U Guards Make Name
A couple of guards popped for FIFA 16U in their 61-51 victory over Judah Nation. Robert Johns is a 6’1” compactly built lefty that got buckets in transition for 14 points. Also came away intrigued with another 6’1” combo on this team in Jahiem Johnson. The rising junior accelerated to the cup and flashed some nice passing. Judah Nation was pushed by the 20 points of 6’5” shooting guard Harrison Jackson who can hit from deep as he drained four of them in the loss.
Ivan Show Rolls on for Coveted D2 Recruit with HIT
Doesn’t matter the gym or state for that matter Batavia 2022 power forward Ethan Ivan has been a show over the last month. He did it again on Friday! Known for his pick/pop ability Ivan showed he has much more in his bag than just that. He was super quick and assertive on the offensive glass along with taking his opponent off the bounce from the high-post over and over again. He is gaining much more confidence putting it on the deck which will open up more avenues for him. Lyons 2022 shooting guard Billy Bach continued his thing as the sharp shooter drained a couple in a 11 point outing.
Hustle Hard Elite 17U Backcourt Shines
HIT’s opponent was Hustle Hard Elite out of Louisiana. They had a couple nice backcourt prospects in 2022 duo Micah Willis and Troy Dunn. Willis went for 14 points showcasing his shot making from deep along with several nice runners. Dunn also had the touch from the perimeter as the well built wing hit crisp pull ups all over for 19 points.
Buddy Buckets Shows Out in Rivalry Win over Tulsa Hawks
The game of day was Buddy Buckets vs Tulsa Hawks. These two Oklahoma squads clashed with Buddy Buckets taking home the decisive victory. JV Seat was the star netting 21 points and doing it in a variety of ways. Thick bodied 2022 combo guard understands how to use his strength to his advantage. Converted in the lane absorbing contact. Then he showcased his three point game draining several of them. Also is a solid passer and good defender. He holds one D1 offer and after this game with 50+ coaches on the baseline expect more to jump in. Ethan Scott can really shoot it for Buddy Buckets. The combo guard is best as a spot up shooter and he did just that draining a few of them. Couple of upside long term prospects to watch on this team. The athleticism for 6’7” 2023 small forward Terry McMorris jumps off the floor at you. Slashed to the hoop with long strides and skied to the rim. Class of 2024 post Luke Gray is a big bodied young five that is still learning the game and playing two ages up, but you can see the natural talent along with rebounding well. For the Tulsa Hawks they just couldn’t get it together in this game or get shots to fall. Star 2023 shooting guard Parker Friedrichsen showed flashes scoring 13 points with a reverse layup and dunk, but couldn’t find his usual touch from distance. Kali Allen is a bouncy power forward that broke out last week and the 2022 continues to be one to track.
Fundamental U Grey Flexes Muscles in Opening Win
Final game we caught was Fundamental U Grey’s win over Tarrant Elite. The were led by the inside presence of Glenbard West center Ryan Renfro. The big man brought major strength and athleticism on the frontline. He utilized hook shots, power moves, and ran the floor for dunks. Also was impressive taking it off the glass and pushing on his own. D2s need to check him out. Before a minor injury Rolling Meadows point guard Orlando Thomas had it rolling. The athletic combo guard has been on fire over the last month with how well he has played. Creative driver and finisher that can also hit an open look from distance. Barrington point guard Daniel Hong got it rolling late with several buckets. Exciting scoring guard that will be a nice small college pick up. For Tarrant Elite point guard Deshaun Russell is a small guard that used his quickness off the bounce along with hitting a couple threes. Tryce Gentry brought grit and shot making on the perimeter
Quick Hitters
Jose Muiello from New Mexico D1 impressed for the second straight week. The 2022 power forward has extremely springy legs which he showed on a couple explosive finishes and swatting shots.
NEBC 2023 center Declan Ryan is a skilled five man with a big body. What you have to like about him is his overall skill package as a mid-range shooter, post scorer, and passer.
Fred Criqui of SSA Hoops Black caught our attention. The Kansas big man plays a physical brand of basketball with toughness and touch. Hook shots, good hands, and put backs. Went for 16 points and 11 rebounds.
