Tyron Barnes (2023) Emerge Elite (Springfield)
Barnes’ court vision was one of his better attributes during the weekend. Made smart passes to guys in the half court and made it a priority to put the ball in the right guys’ hands. Tough as nails and showed he is a football kid too with his intense demeanor and style of play. Got downhill quickly off dribble drives and was smart with choosing to keep or make a solid pass.
Gabe Cupps Gabe Cupps 6'1" | PG Centerville | 2023 State #80 Nation OH (2023) Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB (Centerville)
Cupps continued to show why he is one of the top prospects in the 2023 class in Ohio with a strong performance against Team Loaded. The Centerville guard is one of the better defenders I’ve seen all Summer and finally getting to watch him via livestream justified my claim of him being one of Ohio’s best. Fundamentally sound and crisp footwork defending on-ball. Good release and mechanics on the offensive end. Cupps is a prototype PG and it’s no surprise he has received multiple HM offers as of late.
Anthony Johnson Anthony Johnson 6'3" | PG Midfield | 2022 State AL (2022) Midwest Basketball Club-Adkins (Fairmont)
Johnson continues to get better and better every time I get the chance to watch him play. Quicker on his feet than last time I saw him. Keeps the ball moving on the offensive end and tries to get reversals or penetration to create space. Can and will shoot the ball when needed. Competes on the glass and tough to box out for a guard. Gritty guard still unsigned.
Jacob Meyer Jacob Meyer 6'2" | PG Holy Cross Covington | 2023 #170 Nation GA (2023) Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB (Holy Cross)
Simply put, Meyer gets after it all over the floor and was on full display Saturday. In a game against Mass Rivals 3SSB showed he was the best prospect on the floor for the 16U team. Floor general that is always advancing the basketball and pushing the tempo. Even can makes plays and create in the half court. Can attack either hands and showed he could finish through contact. Active defender on-ball with his speed and control. Already has offers from several LM programs and should only continue to see offers roll in.
Kamden O’Conner (2022) Midwest Basketball Club-Southerland (Lebanon)
O’Conner was very similar to several PGs I watched on Sunday. One of the quicker guards in terms of moving with the ball in the open court. Good passer and strived to make extra passes when possible. Shooting mechanics are clean and showed confidence in midrange. Gets after it on the defensive end and competes with whoever he is tasked to defend. Hidden gem in the 2022 class.
