As we count down the hours until action tips off Friday afternoon for the Prep Hoops 2K21 event, let’s take a look at some of the Day One matchups that stand out along with a few additional players that I’m looking forward to seeing.
Team Teague 2022 Turner vs. Mass Rivals 3SSB 17u
Several of the Adidas Gauntlet teams are making their way to Indianapolis for Prep Hoops 2K21 this weekend including national powerhouse Mass Rivals. We will be treated to a marquee matchup at 3:10 p.m. Eastern Time early on in the event as they go up against a super-talented Team Teague group. Illinois commit Reggie Bass Reggie Bass 6'4" | SG Arsenal Tech | 2022 State #175 Nation IN (Arsenal Tech H.S. 2022) has played well throughout the live period while sharp-shooter Rasheed Jones Rasheed Jones 6'6" | SF Arsenal Tech | 2022 State IN (Elevation Prep 2022) is starting to garner a lot of attention. Coaches love his size as a 6’6″ shooter with excellent length.
This weekend will offer a big opportunity for Isaiah Davis Isaiah Davis 6'9" | PF Zionsville | 2022 State IN (Zionsville H.S. 2022) as well now that he has earned a bigger role in the absence of Charlie Williams Charlie Williams 6'10" | PF Carmel | 2022 State #220 Nation IN (Carmel H.S. 2022) who is out with an arm injury. Davis moves well for his size at 6’9″ and showcases good strength around the basket. Division I coaches will definitely be evaluating him this weekend as he awaits his first D1 offer.
EG10 2022
Guards Jordan Turner Jordan Turner 6'3" | PG Cardinal Ritter | 2022 State IN (Cardinal Ritter H.S. 2022) and J.J. Louden Jr. (Pike H.S. 2022) each picked up Division 1 offers this week. Turner, a 6’3″ lead guard, earned his first offer from Bethune Cookman. The 6’5″ Louden, who is back and better than ever from a nagging injury, added a Cansisus offer on Wednesday joining IUPUI as schools requesting his services.
Turner and Louden join 6’3″ combo guard Ryan Conwell Ryan Conwell 6'2" | SG Pike | 2022 State #155 Nation IN (Pike H.S. 2022) in a talented backcourt for EG10. Conwell will be one of most sought after players in attendance as his offer list continues to grow and coaches from all levels get their eyes on him.
EG10 takes the floor Friday night at 6:25 p.m. Eastern Time against Minnesota Fury 2022 Wilde on Court 10.
Small College Prospects
The Division I guys get a lot of publicity already, but we at Prep Hoops pride ourselves on shining a light on those small college prospects as well. Personally, as a former Division III coach, I have a soft spot for helping those kids.
This weekend there will be a boatload of in-state programs playing at Prep Hoops 2K21 that will have DIII/NAIA coaches watching. Programs like Indiana Game, George Hill All Indy-Woo, IE Blaze Select, and many more are full of nice small college players. This weekend will be a chance for those programs to go head-to-head with some Adidas Gauntlet teams and showcase their abilities on a national platform.
Indiana Ice 2022 Gold Gauntlet
Fresh off of an impressive showing playing as part of the Adidas 3SSB Gold Gauntlet, Indiana Ice will be participating this weekend at Prep Hoops 2K21. 6’7″ forward Javan Buchanan (Lafayette Jefferson H.S. 2022) and 6’4″ guard Harold Woods Harold Woods 6'3" | SF Hammond | 2021 State IN (Don Bosco Prep 2022) are their two most intriguing prospects. They are a super athletic team that brings a lot of intensity each time they step on the floor.
For local fans and college coaches alike it will be nice having them back in Indianapolis this weekend after competing out in Council Bluffs, Iowa last week. This is a talented group with players for coaches of all levels.
