Again, in order to keep it simple and reward the very best players we will NOT be breaking this down by position. These are simply the best performers from the weekend.
Third Team All-Prep Hoops 2K21
Landen Babusiak Landen Babusiak 6'11" | C Bosco Institute/Indiana Connections Academy | 2022 State IN : 6’9″ Forward, Bosco Institue 2022/Indiana Game 2022 Premier
Babusiak finished off a strong July with some very solid games at Prep Hoops 2K21. The big man did a lot of what he does best, rebound the ball and finish around the rim. He was good as the roll man on the pick-and-roll, ran the floor to finish on the secondary break, and consistently scored off of offensive rebound putbacks. There is a lot to like about his skill level and his 6’9″ frame.
Javan Buchanan: 6’6″ Forward, Lafayette Jefferson H.S. 2022/Indiana Ice 2022 Gold Gauntlet
After returning to Lafayette for his senior season after moving to Kansas for a year, Buchanan is quickly attracting the attention of many college coaches in the area. Eastern Illinois head coach Marty Simmons followed him around some over the weekend as well as several Division II schools. Buchanan is a physical wing/forward that showed off his ability to knock down shots from the perimeter along with his above-the-rim inside game. He is a very good rebounder as well.
Jordan Lomax Jordan Lomax 6'3" | SG Brownsburg | 2024 State IN : 6’2″ Guard, Avon H.S. 2024/INB 2024 Platinum
The talented scoring guard absolutely lit it up all weekend long. Lomax hit 13 threes early on in the tournament and never turned back from there. He had games of 39, 32, 27, and 24 points while also showing off some playmaking ability for his teammates. Lomax was one of the more talented 2024 in-state players that I had the opportunity to see at Prep Hoops 2K21.
Joshua Mickens Joshua Mickens 6'4" | PF Lawrence Central | 2023 State IN : 6’5″ Forward, Lawrence Central H.S. 2023/D1 Indiana 16u
His future is most likely on the gridiron where he is a four-star defensive end prospect, but Mickens showed his basketball talent over the weekend as well. Mickens is a talented, lefty forward that is an excellent driver from the wings and finishes at a high-level around the basket. He showcased excellent moves with his back to the basket as well. With explosive athleticism and quick feet, Mickens is really tough to stop around the hoop.
Devon Woods Devon Woods 5'10" | PG Pike | 2023 State IN : 5’10” Point Guard, Pike H.S. 2023/Team Teague 2023 Collins
Woods is a smaller point guard but excels off of the dribble and is a creative, effective finisher inside against size. He is lightening quick with the ball in his hands in the open floor but also showcases great pace when playing off of the ballscreen in the half court. Woods displayed excellent court vision as well. Just an all-around playmaker that is poised for a breakout junior season.
