I’ll post a notebook with much more information from the night early on Saturday morning, but for now I wanted to highlight these six players who stood out on Friday evening.
Dante Porch (Pike H.S. 2022/Indiana Ice 2022 Silver Gauntlet)- The 6’4″ lefty wing played well Friday evening knocking down a few three’s in the span of about five minutes of game time. Porch also put it on the floor once they started closing out harder and got into the middle of the defense where he finished with soft touch on his floater. Nice under-the-radar prospect to keep an eye on this weekend.
Omarion Hatch Omarion Hatch 5'8" | PG Michigan City | 2022 IN (Michigan City H.S. 2022/94 Feet Elite 2022)- Hatch will take over the reigns in the Michigan City backcourt this coming season now that Jamie Hodges is off to prep school. Despite being just 5’8″, Hatch is super tough on the floor and has strength to his small frame. He routinely got into the paint off of the dribble and showed off some athletic finishes around opposing size at the rim. Pesky on-ball defender.
Ryan Conwell Ryan Conwell 6'2" | SG Pike | 2022 State #155 Nation IN (Pike H.S. 2022/EG10 2022)- At this point, do you really write about an event’s top performers if you don’t mention Conwell? The 6’3″ lefty guard poured in a game-high 27 points as EG10 knocked off a very good Minnesota Fury team in a hard-fought game. Conwell can get to any spot on the floor that he wants at any time and was feeling it from beyond the arc Friday night as well. When he does that, he is impossible to stop.
Drew Adzia Drew Adzia 5'9" | PG Crown Point | 2022 State IN (Crown Point H.S. 2022/Indiana Game 2022 Premier)- Adzia has made clutch plays in back-to-back weekends for Indiana Game. Friday night he came through with a tough drive and reverse layup finish with about 10 seconds left to force overtime against Minnesota Heat-Grow. His team would go on to win as he shot it well from beyond the arc and continued to get to the basket. He is small at just 5’9″, but tough as nails and very skilled with the ball in his hands.
Kaleo Kakalia Kaleo Kakalia 6'6" | PF Mishawaka Marian | 2022 State IN (Mishawaka Marian H.S. 2022/Indiana Game 2022 Premier)- If you want a guy with a relentless motor then look no further than Kakalia. The 6’6″ forward is super active on the glass, runs the floor hard, and is a reliable finisher around the basket. Friday night he even showcased a couple of short, straight-line drives that he finished at the rim. This is a big man that small colleges will absolutely want to recruit.
Matt Zdanowicz Matt Zdanowicz 6'2" | SG Crown Point | 2022 IN (Crown Point H.S. 2022/Indiana Game 2022 Premier)- The 6’3″ guard went for 36 points in Indiana Game Blue’s overtime victory. Zdanowicz has nice length on the wing and can really stroke it both from beyond the arc and as a pull-up jump shooter. Anytime you score 30+ it is going to catch some people’s attention.
