In this article:
The month of July is flying by as it is almost half over. Teams are in the midst of trying to win championship as they are led by their floor generals. Some of them are set up for big weekends as they try to help their teams win. Here are the point guard prospects on track for a big weekend.
Denver Anglin Denver Anglin 6'0" | PG Gill St. Bernard's | 2022 State #120 Nation NJ , 6’0 Gill St. Bernard’s 2022
Anglin has been torching the nets for the NY Rens down at Peach Jam and should continue to do so this weekend. The 6’0 guard has a quick release on his jumper and is capable of knocking down triples in bunches. Anglin sets his feet before he shoots and has the ability to play off the ball. He makes good decisions with the ball in his hands and moves his feet well on the defensive end. Anglin has been making noise at Peach Jam and should make more noise over the course of the weekend.
Jayden Lemond Jayden Lemond 6'3" | PG Blair Academy | 2023 State #183 Nation NJ , 6’3 Blair Academy 2023
Lemond is a key part of the PSA Cardinals’ 16U attack and will show why during the weekend. The 6’3 guard plays with poise with the ball in his hands and is not fazed by on-ball pressure. Lemond has a good handle which he uses to get into the lane and make plays. He wastes little motion in his shooting form and has the potential to defend both backcourt spots due to his size and length. Lemond’s ability to control the offense and defend makes him one of the more intriguing lead guard prospects in the 2023 class.
Elliot Cadeau Elliot Cadeau 6'2" | PG Bergen Catholic | 2024 MO , 6’2 Bergen Catholic 2024
Cadeau may be playing up in the 17U division for the New Heights Lightning, but he has shown that the stage is not too big for him. The 6’2 guard is a solid passer as he knows how to hit his teammates in stride in transition. Cadeau has a nice release on his jumper and shoots the ball with confidence from distance. He is unafraid of picking up opponents’ top ball-handlers and slides his feet well on the defensive end. Cadeau is a skilled floor general who is only going to get better over the course of the weekend.
Maurice Odum Maurice Odum 6'1" | PG West Oaks | 2022 State FL , 6’1 Union City 2022
Odum has been on a tear for the Riverside Hawks and it should continue this weekend. The 6’1 guard is a natural scorer who can score at all three levels and his range starts once he crosses half court. Odum has a tight handle which he uses to get by his defender and get into the lane. He is a good passer and an underrated on-ball defender. Odum is a scoring point guard who is set to have a big weekend in Dallas.
Jahmir Smith Jahmir Smith 6'0" | PG Centennial Highschool | 2023 GA , 6’0 Holy Spirit 2023
Smith is ready for a big weekend at the HGSL Spooky Nook Jam Fest with Jersey Force as he gets to put his game on display. The athletic 6’0 guard regularly finishes above the rim and is unafraid of drawing contact on his way to the basket. Smith has a good handle, which he uses to get into the lane and hit shots in the mid-range. He is an underrated passer and uses his athleticism to make plays on the defensive end. Smith’s combination of athleticism and scoring talent should help him have a big weekend.
