This action-packed event was filled with talented recruits from slam dunkers to ankle breakers to knock down jump shooters. Here we’ll take a look at a few of 15U’s top bucket getters from The Finale.
Evan Crotts | Point Guard | Next Level Oklahoma 2024
Evan Crotts was one of the most exciting ball-handlers to watch, his ball skills were awesome and his quickness was superb, Crotts was able to blow by any defender, split pressure defenses, expose the zone, and get into the paint for a layup seemingly at will. He was such a savvy slasher and finisher, Crotts always made sure to cuff and protect the ball while on the drive, often resulting in a reach-in or shooting fouls from the defense. This Point Guard also showed a knack for hooking his defender’s arm while still getting the shot up and drawing the foul all in one motion. His ability to initiate and take contact was uncanny, not many in the 15U division had a layup package quiet like Evan Crotts. It didn’t matter how many guys stood under the basket or attempted to block his shot Crotts had a masterful way of twisting his body and reversing the ball through all sorts of flying arms and traffic. Crotts even came up big in crunch time, he consistently nailed deep clutch three-pointers and made tough contested layups every time they were needed most, proving to be a trustworthy player, someone a coach can draw a play up for and expect great results.
Brandon Moore | Combo Guard | KC Runnin Rebels 2024
Brandon Moore constantly found ways of getting into the center of the floor, where he could smoothly glide to the basket off his hesitation or crossover dribble. Effortless right to left crossover, very precise, and either got him space or to his spots. Moore also showed an impressive outside shooting prowess off the catch as well as off of the dribble. The Runnin Rebels guard operated well out of both positions, displaying the IQ to set up a teammate and the court vision to make difficult yet quick passes while on the move and still put the ball right in his man’s shooting pocket. He even had a good understanding on to effectively utilize the pick and roll. Although Brandon Moore was the primary bucket getter, he was still a team-first guy looking for his teammates before seeking his own shot, which kept the defense honest, never knowing when Moore would pass, shoot or drive.
Jacob Stewart | Shooting Guard | Nike ProSkills San Antonio 2024 Black
Jacob Stewart was a master at picking and choosing his spots, knowing his limitations, and always playing to his strengths. The ProSkills guard showed an excellent talent for penetrating the lane and getting to the basket. He kept his head high, eyes locked onto the backboard, and went right through the teeth of the defense, never shying away from contact one bit. Stewart displayed another dimension to his game whenever teams dared him to shoot as he knocked down pull-up jump shots from the elbows with ease. A true threat to put the ball in the hoop from anywhere within the mid-range, Stewart gets good elevation, has a high release, with a nice follow-through.
Trey Martinez | Point Guard | Oklahoma Runners Organization 2024
Trey Martinez, a fast-paced guard that handled the rock and pushed the tempo. He’s a deceptive dribbler with a slight shiftiness to his game that got defenders off-balance and even stumbling back on their heels. Martinez has a fearless stroke, he quickly gets the ball out of his hands, and will let it fly from well beyond the arc off the dribble even with defense in his face. Trey Martinez displayed an enormous amount of potential, not just as a scorer but as an all-around ballplayer.
Jaryn Porter | Shooting Guard | Enid Elite 2024
6-foot, Jaryn Porter stood out as a strong and physical slasher that did a fantastic job of initiating contact, drawing the foul, and converting the free throws. Porter never shied away from the physicality, in fact, he invited it, Porter allowed it to come to him as he absorbed whatever came his way and finished through it. When this Shooting Guard played with his confidence up and his motor running he was difficult to contain. Once Jaryn Porter spotted a hole or flaw in the defense, he attacked it over and over again.
