The event featured 80-plus players from across the country – some highly-ranked and others looking to make a name for themselves in front of college coaches. In this series we take a look at the top performers and break down their games.
Oziyah Sellers, 2022, Southern California Academy – Sellers has an elite skill that translates well to the next level and that is his smooth and consistent pull-up jump shot from mid and three-point range. The 6-foot-4 combo guard transitions from his move off the bounce into his shooting form with no wasted motion and gets great lift on his shot. Sellers is a smart lead guard who operates with a high basketball IQ out of ball-screen action.
Styles Phipps, 2024, St. Mary’s (AZ) – Phipps is a heady true point guard type of player who always has his eyes up in transition and looks to kick the ball ahead to an open teammate. The 6-foot-2 rising sophomore showed great command of the point guard spot and learned his teammates strengths and weaknesses quickly to help his team run efficiently despite being unfamiliar with those running with him.
Sebastian Mack, 2023, Durango (NV) – Mack is a high energy, shifty and physical transition scorer who looks to take advantage of transition opportunities. The 6-foot-3 guard is a strong finisher around the basket and uses his speed and body control to get downhill and into the paint on the break. Mack’s toughness and motor was also on display on the defensive end as he tipped passes, crashed the defensive boards and slid his feet well laterally to keep offensive players in front.
AJ Johnson, 2023, Taft – Johnson is the same long, wiry and high IQ prospect we saw as a 7th and 8th grader except he’s about four inches taller. The 6-foot-4 point guard is a creative ball handler with great vision in the half-court and open court settings. While his frame doesn’t make you believe he’d be a good interior finisher, Johnson is crafty around the rim and has touch with either hand.
Tanti Felli, 2022, Phoenix Country Day (AZ) – Tanti was effective on his team as a stretch and face-up four man. At 6-feet-6, the forward knocked down catch-and-shoot three-pointers with consistency to open up driving lanes for guards. Felli also slashed his way to the rim and used his length and pogo-stick athleticism to extend and finish above rim protectors.
