Mailahn exhibited solid spatial awareness when navigating the paint area. He slipped around opponents to rip down rebounds, even if he started his pursuit seemingly out of the play. That awareness carried over to his offensive game, as well, with efficient footwork to help fuel his finishing. He made decisions a beat quicker than a lot of his defenders, which allowed him to finish at a high clip inside.
Jack Lusk Jack Lusk 6'4" | SF Elkhorn North | 2022 State NE | OSA 17U National Burt
The strong-bodied wing had his best day of the weekend on the final day. His length showed up on defense with multiple blocked shots, a few of them coming against jumpshots. He shot the ball well, too, knocking down three shots from deep against Victory Ministry 17U. He also showed the ability to take his defender off the dribble and pull up in the midrange.
Grant Jansen Grant Jansen 6'3" | C Gretna | 2022 State NE | OSA 17U National Burt
Jansen imposed his will against Victory Ministry 17U on Sunday, scoring 14 first half points and dominating the glass. The opposition had no answer for his presence inside, where he used his strength to bully the taller big and completed the bucket with touch and finesse. He stepped out beyond the arc, and took and made his only three-point attempt of the game. It was a blowout by halftime, and he did not touch the ball much in the second half, but he made his mark on the game in a big way.
Myles Hoehne Myles Hoehne 6'2" | SG Lincoln Southwest | 2022 State NE | Lincoln Supreme 17U National 2 (pictured)
Despite not shooting the ball very well, Hoehne was the best player on the floor for Lincoln Supreme 17U National 2 this weekend. He is a strong athlete which allowed him to capitalize on small advantages and finish against size. He has good mobility and very good hands. He turned off-target passes from potential turnovers into buckets with his catch radius and ability to quickly gather himself and get off the floor.
Joe Marfisi Joe Marfisi PG Lincoln East | 2022 State NE | Lincoln Supreme 17U National 2
Marfisi created opportunities for this team by surgically attacking closeouts. Jab steps, split steps, and catching the pass while already in motion were all tools that the Lincoln East guard used to beat his man. From there, he made correct decisions to either shoot or pass. Defensively, he was hard-hedging pick and rolls with great success. It forced ball-handlers into rushed passes and errant ball-handling, and he ran the floor immediately on the turnover which led to some wide open transition layups.
