Amidst the sloppy offense I saw on Friday, there were a few diamonds in the rough who showed out above the rest. Let’s talk about a few of those top performers on offense.

Zach Grandgenett | OSA National Padilla 16U

I mentioned the sloppy finishing on Friday in the defensive standouts article, but Grandgenett was an exception to that. The Millard West guard had several crafty finishes where he slithered through traffic in the lane to finish at odd angles. He started the game shooting well, and he used to that punish late closeouts by putting the ball on the floor and attacking hard.

Grandgenett’s teammate was also one of the few who finished well on the day. He was decisive in his drives to the lane, most of them occurring quickly after catching the pass. Once in the lane, he had no issue taking and dealing contact. He met the bigs with an equal force and used his strength to carve out space for himself. His touch around the rim stood out, as he banked in a few from angles that I did not expect him to successfully score from.
