This led to a very competitive camp with a lot of high level play. Here are five players that stood out
Trey Kolakovich Trey Kolakovich 5'10" | CG Croswell-Lexington | 2023 State MI 5-11 2023 Croswell-Lexington (pictured at top of article) As the recent NBA finals has shown. You can never underestimate the value of old school point guard. They are becoming more rare but that is what Kolakovich has developed into. Along these lines showed an excellent understanding of the game. Was patient and let plays develop without forcing things. Seemed a step ahead of defenders in the scrimmages and was a good passer. Continues to show improvement and sometimes I have to remind myself he’s only a 2023 prospect. Bright future
Mitchell Geiger Mitchell Geiger 6'1" | CG Croswell-Lexington | 2023 State MI 6-1 2023 Croswell-Lexington Kolakovich’s backcourt partner was probably the best shooter in the camp. Not only did go in often but showed a smooth effortless release. Despite not being the tallest prospect has a very long and lanky frame. This will help along with added muscle as he expands his game more into the mid range and drives the basket. But the biggest catalyst will be an effective shot fake. Due to fact that you really have respect him and run him off the line with how well he shoots it from deep. Business like attitude and worked very hard in the camp. That bodes well going forward.
Nolan Fisher 6-5 2022 Midland Dow A completely new name from the camp for me. This forward played very well. An energetic and explosive athlete with a good size. There is a lot to like in that sentence. A switchable defender capable of guarding multiple positions. Long arms also help in this regard. Has a smooth outside shot. Also has an excellent high release point making it difficult to block. Good finisher at the rim as everything else would suggest. Really showed off the full forward package. Might need to increase foot speed a tick. As the length advantages would not be as pronounced at the next level. Definitely a name to put on the board.
Karim McCune II Karim McCune II 6'2" | CG Saginaw | 2022 State MI 6-2 2022 Saginaw Has had an up and down spring/summer playing EAT Athletics. The main culprit has been playing through injuries. The camp setting is conducive to his high level athleticism. After playing mostly off the ball for EAT showed the ability to play the point on Thursday. That would be big for development as I don’t know if he has the vertical size to play the two at the next level. He most definitely has the bounce to make plays above the rim and he continued to show that off.
Jayden Hardiman Jayden Hardiman 6'7" | C Ferndale | 2023 State MI 6-7 2023 Warren Mott The strongest post in the camp. Hardiman had a very good day. Showed a little more skill than I have seen from him on the AAU circuit. The thing that stood out was his court vision and ability to pass out of the high post. Also was a good shooter from this spot making him difficult to defend. But with his size and frame the low block is still where is going to do his damage. Toward that measure will need to get a little more explosive athletically to get that quick lift. This improvement will also breed more confidence. Another 2023 who has plenty time to do this.
