Some names are already familiar to our readers, others are coming out from under the radar and some names are just being introduced to everyone.
Zaide Lowery Zaide Lowery 6'4" | SG La Lumiere | 2023 #127 Nation IN 6’3″ Missouri Flight 17U: The talented 2023 guard from Kickapoo picked up a Big East offer from Marquette over the weekend. He had some big performances in Atlanta, including one in which he erupted for 31 points, where he showed his explosive leaping ability combined with his 3-point shooting prowess and ball handling skills. And he is playing at this high level while playing up a year at 17U.
Javaris Moye Javaris Moye 6'4" | SG Kirkwood | 2023 State MO 6’4″ Gateway-Knights 16U: The 2023 wing guard from Kirkwood showcased his smooth offensive game in Birmingham over the weekend. He has good size and he moves at his own pace, but he’s always getting by defenders. His hesitation move is especially dangerous. He’s a three-level scoring threat who displayed the mid-range jumper and the 3-point range from the corner.
Devin Conley Devin Conley 6'1" | PG Pembroke Hill | 2023 State MO 6’2″ Mentality by Michael Watson 16U: The talented 2023 guard from Pembroke Hill had a productive showing in Atlanta in leading his team to a berth in the championship game. He is an excellent 3-point shooter with an overall floor game that was equally impressive. He is a solid rebounder from the guard position who can also be a playmaker as well with his passing skills and ability to play the right way.
Barry Thomas Barry Thomas 6'1" | PG St. Charles West | 2023 State MO 6’1″ Team Ramey CCM 16U: The 2023 combo guard had a breakout weekend in Louisville as he led his team to the championship game. He’s quick and he excels in the open court and he likes to stay on the attack. He is really good on the move with the pull up jumpers, runners and floaters, but he will hit a 3-pointer to keep the defense honest. He was consistently around the 20-point mark throughout the weekend.
Israel Randle Israel Randle 5'10" | PG North Kansas City | 2023 State MO 5’10″ Marcus Denmon Eite 16U: The 2023 point guard from Lincoln Prep looked very good in the game that I watched him from Atlanta. His combination of speed, quickness and a high basketball IQ make him the ideal floor general. He’s also a lefty which also keeps people off-balance. He can attack the lane on the blow-by or he can change speeds as well. His court vision is top-notch as he can locate open teammates before they know they are open.
Corbin Allen 6’4″ Team YOBO 16U: A 2025 guard from Oak Park who showed why he will be one of the top incoming freshmen in the state next season with the way he performed in Atlanta. He had the size and length to play the passing lanes to get steals. His quick first step and long stride got him into the lane where he finished well. He also hit the 3-pointer. His future is bright.
Joshua Reeves 6’1″ All-Missouri Attack 16U: I was impressed when watching this smooth shooting guard from Golden City, who had a big weekend in Iowa. The small-school standout was lighting it up from 3-point range as he hit a number of shots from well past the line. His release was quick and his stroke was confident. His feel for the game was good as he handled the ball well and made the right play with his passing.
Boston Douglas 6’3″ Zoski Elite 17U: A 2023 wing player from Macon who is a very good all-purpose player while playing up at 17U. He does many things to help his team. He is an excellent rebounder who can also start the break and deliver nice passes. He slashes to the basket well and also finishes on good off ball cuts. He’s capable of being very productive on the court without commanding the basketball.
