Continue ReadingThursday marked the opening day of the riveting LIVE period. More than any other LIVE period in recent memory, this was built up to be something epic. Co-Vid 19 forced college coaches to miss the entire 2020 spring and summer recruiting cycle as far as watching young talents in the gymnasiums. This officially marks an end to that struggle and the return of college coaches to the gyms obviously elevates the tension and ambition nationwide. These players managed to rise above and make their mark in the first day out, Thursday July 8th.

Andrew Knittel Andrew Knittel 6'3" | SG Volunteer | 2023 State TN (East TN Kings 16u)
Andrew led the Kings in scoring Thursday morning in a narrow in over NGNG, 67-63. Knittel scored 18 points, including 5-6 free throws in the second half. He made a single three-pointer along the way. Knittel is a frenetic player, constantly on the move.
Joltin Harrison Joltin Harrison 6'2" | SG Volunteer | 2023 State TN (East TN Kings 16u)
Joltin managed 15 points in the same victory. Harrison scored 11 before the break. His ability to shoot is notable, but he needed to and needs to figure a way to get to the free throw line more
Dawson Arnold (East TN Kings 16u)
Dawson helped the East TN Kings with 11 points, nine of them in the second half. Arnold, like Harrison and Knittel, camped with PrepHoopsTN to end their June month.
Jason Hunt Jason Hunt 6'4" | SF Peabody | 2022 State TN (TN Blazers 17u)
Hunt is a true sleeper of the ’22 class. He ran with Humboldt High last winter, but for some reason will be transferring to Peabody. Unclear on the details. Hunt is physical and capable of slithering past defenders with the handle. He played really well for Blazers early Thursday afternoon.
TJ Kolbe (Stars North 16u)
During a win over Texas Tarheels Blue, guard TJ Kolbe of Hendersonville High scored 23 points. Kolbe will be a junior this upcoming school year.
Edgerrin Downing (Stars North 16u)
Downing helped Kolbe with 8 points and 8 assists in the win over Texas Tarheels Blue. Downing attends Beech alongside Kristian Shaw Kristian Shaw 6'6" | SG Beech | 2022 State TN and Isaiah Davis Isaiah Davis 6'7" | PF Nashville Christian | 2022 State TN .
RJ Casey (Stars 17u)
A lot of hype about RJ Casey keeps finding our ears. The results are irrefutable. Thursday, Cased scored 32 points in a nice win over Oakland Soldiers. Casey is a bucket-getter as a small guard. Will be a scoring “1” at the next level.
Marcel Reed Marcel Reed 6'3" | SG M.B.A. (football) | 2023 State TN (EAB 16u)
The EAB men knocked off Upward Stars (SC) with 17 points from Marcel Reed Marcel Reed 6'3" | SG M.B.A. (football) | 2023 State TN . Like his KY-based teammate Hayden Llewellyn, Marcel knocked down a trio of three-pointers. Remember Hayden used to attend Jellico High on the border, but now plays for a high school in Kentucky, making him outside our purview.
Jarred Hall Jarred Hall 6'8" | SF Lebanon | 2023 State #65 Nation TN (EAB 16u)
Jarred scored 9 points in the win over Upward Stars. He is going to climb up our rankings from #7 by the end of this month. His value is becoming absurdly plain to D1 observers.
