Furthermore, the goal is to get as many names out there as possible. It only takes one school to like you and offer a scholarship.
Let’s look at some additional prospects….
Johaun Myles – McArthur
2022 Johaun Myles was recently named to the 17U All-Tournament First Team at the Prep Hoops Proving Grounds Showcase. Earlier this month, Myles turned up at the Miami Summer Hoops Festival with 76 points in three games. At 6-foot-4 with length, he has plenty of frame to be a point guard. Myles has good body control and can finesse his way on the drive for a layup. He is a very good passer that can dribble penetrate and kick out to an open man on the perimeter. I have always liked the flow of an offense when he has the ball in his hands. Myles earned a scholarship offer to Albany State back on July 8th. He is a safe D2 prospect with an opportunity to grow. I expect him to become more of a killer and offensive weapon with 2021’s Javen Bailey and Isaiah Gissendanner Isaiah Gissendanner 5'11" | SG McArthur | 2021 State FL gone. Myles averaged 7.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists as a junior. He runs with the South Florida Elite.
Caelum Ethridge Caelum Ethridge 6'3" | SG Pembroke Pines | 2022 State FL – Pembroke Pines Charter
2022 Caelum Ethridge Caelum Ethridge 6'3" | SG Pembroke Pines | 2022 State FL is playing well for Nike Team Florida. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard has been near the top of the scoresheet this entire month. Previously, he played well up in Georgia at the GBCA team camp. Ethridge has plenty of length and can hit from outside at a high volume. His ability to attack the rim and finish has greatly improved. I believe his athleticism is trending upward; which should help him in his recruitment. He currently holds offers from Brandeis and Catawba. Ethridge seems like a lock for a high-academic D3 with his 3.8 GPA. That Catawba offer tells me he can make inroads on the D2 level.
Brenen Lorient Brenen Lorient 6'8" | PF Calvary Christian | 2022 State FL – Calvary Christian Academy
I am very interested to see 2022 Brenan Lorient play now that he has transferred to Calvary Christian Academy. The 6-foot-9 forward has looked good playing in the post for Nike Team Florida. With his length, Lorient can create his own shot in the paint with his quick first step and good footwork. He is simply too long for a defender to contest his shot around the cylinder. Lorient is equally as disruptive as a rim protector with his frame. His athleticism is really good for a frontcourt player. Lorient is a safe D1/low-major. I think his time at Calvary Christian Academy could move him up to a mid-major.
Matthew Newland – Archbishop McCarthy
I will keep plugging 2022 Matthew Newland because I believe he has talent. He is a 6-foot-7 forward with incredibly long arms. I think you can insert him into a lineup and he will bring it defensively. I don’t see envision many easy looks from opponents when he is around the paint. Offensively, Newland has room to develop. He averaged 11.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game while shooting 43 percent from the floor last season. I think he can continue to develop as a face up shooter and in the mid-range. Against Sagemont, he had 9 points and a season-high 15 rebounds. I think Newland has D2 potential.
