Hosted by recruiting legend Gary Charles, the event runs from July 21st until July 28th and features teams from all over the country. The festivities kicked off with Wednesday’s Showcase games, featuring high-level prospects squaring off. In this article, we take a look at some of the standouts from the Showcase event.
Elijah Fisher 6’6 SF Grassroots Elite 2023 – I always feel like it’s easy to spot a High Major prospect in a crowded room. Fisher proved my point today. Although it was my first time seeing him, It took only minutes for me to recognize the exceptional talent of the consensus top 100 prospect. Fisher is a physical specimen that attacked relentlessly downhill. His frame allowed him to deliver blows like a running back as defenders bounced off him on his way to the rim. The explosive wing holds countless offers including ones from the likes of Syracuse, Kansas, and Memphis.
Amari Pearson Amari Pearson 6'3" | SF Cape Fear Christian Academy | 2022 State NC 6’3 SG Team Wall 2022 – Not sure what I loved more about Pearson, his athletic ability, or his shooting. Pearson was one of the high flyers for Team Wall , catching lobs and finishing over the rim. When left open, he showed that he could consistently knock down 3’s. As if those skills weren’t enough, he displayed a little wiggle, and shifty handle allowing him to get into the lane at will.
Davis Molnar Davis Molnar 6'6" | SF Terry Sanford | 2022 State NC 6’6 SF Team Wall 2022 (featured image) – Molnar just kept producing throughout the game. He didn’t display 1 exceptional skill, rather a bunch of really good ones. He showed good athletic ability, solid playmaking skills, the ability to handle against pressure and finish at the rim. The 6’6 wing currently holds 4 offers including one from Ole Miss.
Chendall Weaver Chendall Weaver 6'2" | PG Mansfield Timberview | 2022 State TX 6’2 CG PB Nation 2022 – Watching Weaver in a pregame layup line is a show onto itself. The 6’2 combo is a big-time R&J athlete. Ironically it wasn’t his leaping, but his driving that stole the show. Weaver consistently used a lighting quick 1st step to blow by his defender and attack the rim. Once there, he used his explosive leaping ability, as he exploded over the top of defenders to finish above the rim.
Spencer Legg 6’7 SF Prospect U 2021 – Legg was one of the top snipers on the day. He was most effective when shooting it from the wings, and showed good form and a quick release on his shot. The shooter from Virginia will be headed to IMG to suit up for their post-grad team this fall.
Rowan Brumbaugh Rowan Brumbaugh 6'4" | PG Northfield Mount Hermon | 2022 State #140 Nation NLG 6’3 PG Prospect U 2022 – Brumbaugh just oozes PG ability. He has a strong handle, allowing him to maneuver effortlessly around the floor. He shoots it well and has all the tricks to finish around the rim, including quick finishes, same hand same leg finishes, and rim shielding ability. He has terrific size for the position, and currently holds offers from the likes of Georgetown, Creighton, and Kansas.
