Here’s a look at a few of the top returning shooters from the Kansas City area (in alphabetical order):
Christian Bowen-Webb Christian Bowen-Webb 6'2" | CG Bishop Miege | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-2 guard, 2022, Miege (pictured):
What can’t he do, really? He’s so athletic, he can get just about anything he wants, off the dribble or on the move. He isn’t bothered by a hand in the face and can elevate over defenders. As a junior, Bowen-Webb hit 50 3’s and shot a nifty 42% behind the arc. He’s really good in the midrange too with a quick pullup.
Corbin Dozier Corbin Dozier 6'5" | PF Olathe South | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-5 forward, 2022, Olathe South:
A big man who can shoot it. Dozier is long and lean, and has no trouble getting shots off over a defense. He gets shots off in a variety of fashions. Last year he canned 43 long balls while also doing a lot of damage inside the arc.
Dillon Mong Dillon Mong 6'6" | SF Shawnee Mission East | 2023 State KS , 6-foot-6 forward, 2023, Shawnee Mission East:
A player who merits more attention, Mong earned the Sunflower League Sophomore of the Year last year. Among other things, he canned 37% of attempts behind the arc. The 20 he put up in the finale against Shawnee Mission Northwest may be a sign of things to come for this long wing.
Quentin Robertson, 5-foot-11 guard, 2023, Blue Valley West:
Like Mong, Robertson is a rising-junior who will deserve watching next year. He shot 39% from deep as a sophomore, and is lighting it up this summer. Reports are he sets up quickly and has a quick release.
Will Rost Will Rost 6'3" | SG Aquinas | 2023 State KS , 6-foot-3 guard, 2023, Aquinas:
A 5A honorable mention pick as a sophomore, Rost’s reputation as a shooter is already well established. He connected on 57 triples last year, shooting 45% from deep. He went for 20 or more several times last year, scoring not just on the long ball, but also with effective shots in the midrange. He has length and ability to create his shot off the dribble.
