First off, big shout out to the teams who went undefeated in their respective brackets:
- P.L.U.T.O. Prospects (6-0) @plutobasketball
- El Paso Matrix (4-0) @epmatrix
- Colorado Anarchy 2023 Elite (4-0 see picture below) @CO_anarchy
- Mile High Magic (5-0) @milehighmagicbasketball
Now for a few of Sunday’s impressive individual performances:
Cole Records Cole Records 6'3" | SF Regis Jesuit | 2023 State CO : PLUTO Prospects 6’3″ 2023
Cole’s athleticism was on full display all weekend and capped off with a monster ally-oop dunk that blew the roof off the Gold Crown Fieldhouse. His high motor and versatile game made Cole a force and stat sheet filler. I love his nose for the ball and ability to pull loose ball out of a crowd. Rebounding and active defense make Cole’s high motor translate into an undefeated weekend for the PLUTO 2023 prospects.
AJ Reid: Gamepoint Inland Empire 6’4″ 2023
AJ is a stud in transition. His ability to get coast to coast and play with pace in the open court are dynamic and dangerous. Gamepoint’s trapping and pressing style made AJ’s ability to fly around after the ball very effective. In the halfcourt I was impressed with his ability to attack baseline and create space to finish by playing off two feet with powerful attacks.
Bralen Thompson West Kansas Elite
Bralen exploded for 25 points Sunday as the WKE squad went 2-2 this weekend. I was impressed with WKE’s movement off the ball and how hard they cut.
Terrell “TJ” Moorer: Colorado ICE 6’1″ 2023
TJ showed his crafty passing skills in high pick and roll from the top of the key. I liked his ability to use the pocket pass and hit his rolling big man with timely, on-target dimes for easy scores in the paint. Aggressive play and attacking mindset had TJ in the paint all weekend, and I was impressed with his ability to change gears and blow by opponents.
Makhi Hubbard: Colorado ICE 5’7″ 2023
Fresh off track season, Makhi is a blur in the open court, turning deflections and turnovers into breakaway layups. Relentless trapping and pressure created havoc for the ICE opponents, often unable to get the ball across half court. I love his ability to turn the corner and get down hill to the rim in the halfcourt or attacking poor closeouts by defenders.
Tristan Youngblood Tristan Youngblood 6'4" | SG Thompson Valley | 2023 State CO #30 |
Colorado Anarchy Elite capped of an undefeated weekend led by Luke Justice and Tristan Youngblood Tristan Youngblood 6'4" | SG Thompson Valley | 2023 State CO . Youngblood showed his shooting stroke off the ball and ran some point guard as well. At 6’4″ I like how he was able play the game at his pace and didn’t let smaller opponent’s pressure bother him or change his rhythm. Justice was steady all weekend and showcased his float-game in the paint and ability to score all over the floor.
